Im about to become a prison officer although I have seriously considered going back into the forces but doing something that is lighter work. On Field 4 was carrying in excess of 13 stone in my bergan which was all well and good until my back problems now I cant carry over 10 stone without it being painful. But I will say now anyone considering joining just go for it. My scores for the aptitude test were really high and they wanted me to be a technician or something else. I would of got paid more but I doubt I would of had as much fun as I had. Theres one thing and only one thing wrong with RAF Honington which is there are practically no women on base :(

Although when I was leaving they had just got a new hot female PTI :P so theres some relief

Suppose your back is more important mate, don't want it to be f@*ked for life!

Got some good scores on the tests too, but couldn't imagine sitting at a desk doing communications or fixing things in a hanger!

Gutted about the chicks, but they can wait....... lol :D

Got my final interview with an Officer on Tuesday 22/01/08. Can anyone tell me what sort of things they might ask or is it just a case of confirming what trade you want to go into? Know it's a shirt and tie job but anymore info would be appreciated! :D

If it all goes well they have offered me a place on a TG Course on the 10/02/08, anyone else down for that date PM me! :D

Thanks Keates

I know what I need to be aiming for now.
Done a run Yesterday in 22.5 which is my personal best, but I'm sure I can improve on that.

Anyone know any tour dates for this year?

Well done mate, you keep that up and the 3 miler will be no problem! Would do some distance running at a nice easy pace to, 5 miles or so to get used to it.

How's the press up's and sit up's? :)

Alrite chaps?

I am going on the 10th Feb TG course...can't wait. Basically in the interview they just go over (briefly) your family background, knowledge on the Regiment, view on drugs, why you want to join and how much fitness you are doing.

All the best with the interview mate. Let us know how you get on.

Just been browsing about the RAF careers website and if you look at the gunners one with the Video on training weeks diary it tells you alot about what your doing. Its Juno flight thats on there, My Flight ^^ On week 17 theres a guy called Alan Wells one of the people who I started my original TG Course with its nice to see him passing out soon aswell as the corporal who narrates it, Both sound people and very best to the both of them.

Anyone asking questions should just look at that video diary as it is very indepth and very helpful

I've got my PGAC on the 21st of April and from what I've read so far I need to be very afraid. Saying that I've got quite a bit of time to build my fitness up.

There's no need to worry PGAC is easy the fitness tests are easy but when you do the overnight exercise which is not a test they will make you leopard crawl 300 metres with webbing and replica weapon and it is bloody hard trying.
P.S a bit of advice. make sure your water bottle is always full to the brim!

Lol yes, do make sure the bottle is full of water. We had a lad on our PGAC that did not have his bottle full and had to down a full bottle and was promptly sick straight after. Quite amusing to be honest....and remember DEHYDRATION IS A BATTLEFIELD CASUALTY!
