Just had my initial interview today. Was interviewed by Capt. Sayer RM which was great because my previous interviews have been with Navy officers and NCOs and have been a bit thin on the ground in terms of good hard information.
He was really impressed, which is great, and is looking to put me on a POC next year sometime.
He gave a bit of advice on a few things. Firstly I need to relax a little more in the interviews apparently (easier said than done!), and I need to articulate my reasons for joining better. Any help with these would be great thanks.
Out of interest, does anyone else have Capt. Sayer as a Liaison Officer?

I have my interview coming up soon, think that will be with a Navy officer too. But theres a Marine at the office who is really helpful and encouraging.
was the structure the same i wonder to myself as the one for the Navy?
Personal Information - jobs etc
History of RN/RM
Why you want to join?
What the job involves, specialisations, info on training
Future plans
I think thats the jist of the last interview i had for the Navy, is it basically the same except RM based?
Thankyou. Daniel.

My interview took this format:
- He asked about my extra curricular activities and leadership experience
- He asked about my fitness and my program
- He asked why I wanted to join the Royal Marines, why I wanted to be an officer and whether I would be able to kill
- He then asked a bit about my family, what my parents did for a living, whether I get along with them etc.
- Lastly he tested my service knowledge. As I had an RM captain it was mainly RM based ; what are the three assault ships, what are the three roles of the Viking etc etc. However, my friend who had his interview the next Wednesday with a Navy Lieutenant had a more Navy based knowledge test.
My interview went well, with the Captain saying I should attempt for a bursary. My friend's didn't go so well and the Lieutenant said that he should perhaps wait until after a gap year to apply for a bursary because if he fails now it would count as one of his attempts. This has started to annoy me because this officer was supposed to be taking my interview but was in hospital, so I might have been given the same opinion and I am constantly getting conflicting information.
Hope this helps!
