Asthma question

When i was younger (primary school days) i use to suffer from mild asthma, it went a away and has never come back. Im wondering if i should tell the guys at the AFCO or should i not bring it up? i know how asthma is a touchy subject with the royal marines. i just dont want to mess up my selection process.

To be honest mate, I would keep quiet if you have not been perscribed anything for it in the last four years and haven't suffered from anything then your ok.

If not, it will come up in your medical.

I had asthma as a child but it went away and havent had any trouble from it in years. I told them about it and there where no problems.

I had asthma as a kid havent had any medication for ten years and i told the doctor on my medical and he passed me.
Be honest mate, make a point of saying that you went to see yuor gp and to view your medical records and you have been clear for ?? years. but do go and see your gp dont lie that you did.

Well they asked me if i had ever has asthma in last 4 years which i hadnt, so i think its just 4 years

Childhood asthma is fine if you haven't used meds for 4yrs you clear.
Dont lie though .And for those who use a inhaler occasionally and think they can bluff it Sorry you can forget it.
Inhalers are often prescribed now for chest infections .Not sure how the military would view this ?

Well I got perscribed inhalers for a chest infection in week 11, got kicked for it.

But the 4 years is up feb next year and I will be right back there.

The Armed Forces require anyone who joins to be medically fit to serve worldwide. New entrants to the Armed Forces undergo intensive training which is physically demanding and mentally taxing. New entrants must be of a robust constitution and free from disease or pre-existing injury to meet this challenge. If you do decide to apply and your application is accepted, you will be required to pass a full medical examination. Your application will be rejected if you fail to meet the minimum acceptable medical standard for entry. Before a Medical Officer examines you, you are asked to declare certain information about your medical history to identify obvious medical conditions for which rejection is automatic. Please note that your application will be rejected if:
a. You suffer from Epilepsy.
b. You suffer from Diabetes.
c. You suffer or have suffered from Asthma in the past four years.
d. You suffer from Colitis, Crohns Disease, or any other long standing bowel disorder or have had your spleen removed.
e. You have ever had a detached retina or corneal transplant.
f. You suffer from Rheumatoid Arthritis, or any other bone or joint disorders.

The above list is not exhaustive and you may find that your application is rejected due to other medical conditions, not listed, but which are subject to the discretion of the examining doctor or Service Medical Authorities.
