Let's get on with it then! 8)
Four number tickets would probably need to be produced for us by a printer. Anybody any contacts? I know Trev and Co are up to their undercarriage in negotiations for the calendar, any other offers?
I'm not being cantankerous, honest, :D but I prefer leaving people with the option of purchasing a T shirt if wanted, not going down the road of being 'entitled' due to ticket sales. I do see where the idea comes from, but this is after all, for fun and not deadly serious. The design for next years shirt is virtually ready to roll.
Anybody with outstanding donations please get them to Colin, at the FVF address asap so he can produce some figures.
I have submitted our bid for accomodation at Okehampton. The rooms are basic, but work well enough. The showers and heads are equally basic, but we managed. The main thing is that people who work there are willing to put themselves out for us, so that we may enjoy ourselves, and earn some ackers for those whose needs exceed our own. To that end a couple of nights hard liers is worth it. :(
So heads up, call in all those favours and get your oppos booked for next year, 4/5/6 June. LIE to them if you must!
Flo, can I sleep on top of your cooker in the pikey van?

With reference to selling lottery tickets at £5 per ticket.

I could easily sell 150 £1 tickets as opposed to selling 30 £5 tickets (I do live in Jockland :D ).

It is the hand in the pocket syndrome:

DahDit - Want to buy a lottery ticket mate?
Oppo - Sticks hand in pocket pulls out shrapnel - how much then mate?
DahDit - £5
Oppo - Shrapnel back in pocket - for a quid I have a chance at over £1 million in the national lottery!!

Just a thought

Valid point, all for the melting pot. 8)
Dah Dit, what is your opinion about the reception we would receive if the COs were contacted and informed about the Yomp. Would they allow or encourage entries from the lads? Have any of your chaps heard about it?
Is it true you want to be unit rep?

This is more like it, thanks DahDit.

If we went for four digit £1 tickets it would make them easier to sell, BUT, would reduce our possible income from £49,995 to £9,999.

(That's what it cost Dolly for the first round of drinks in the NAAFI at Okehampton Survivors Party after the last Yomp 30.) :o

You are absolutely right that it's the way we sell the tickets that is the secret. If you start by mentioning sponsorship for guys re-doing the 30 miler, (the 'target' is then thinking about £10) and then you explain that for every £5 of 'sponsorship' they get a 4 digit number capable of winning 30 x £20 notes. (and they can watch the results come up on a web site, live!) It could just make the difference, and some of the guys I contacted this year gave from £10 -£40 without the chance of winning anything.

The odds of winning the lottery are a lot, lot, higher than this one!

Are there any flyers, posters etc for this?

Can I suggest getting basic packs together and sending them out to major companies and organisations. Even if it just gets passed around an office it's still money in that you may not have had previously. If you want I'll get the contact details of people from appropriate orgs and get packs together as long as the content is checked and adjusted beforehand.

Any photocopying, printing typing etc you need doing let me know, that goes for anything else you can think of as well, doesn't matter what it is as long as it helps

Cheers

Oakers,

There's nothing available yet, as it's not 'til June 2004, and details are still being thrashed out by the organisers.

However, we will need the sort of help you are offering for the Alternative Calendar project, and Bootneck will be posting details in the next view days. We will need names and addresses of companies we can approach for donations and sponsorship, and we have a letter ready to post to them.

Cheers, Derek

Hello.... I'll not take mi coat off I'm not stopping!!!!!

Right Why does every body pick on me?

Yes I did say about females on the 2003 bimble, and had a very "interesting" reply from Flo.

Yes I did give her a drink of my whisky at the end, and she hated it, cos as a Jock she don't like it.

5/6 June OK by me. BUT if I finish late, on the friday night, can someone stay in the bar with me, and not all turn in so early!!

Great idea re the lottery tickets as it's brass up front.

Great idea of the accomodation cash up front.

Whats wrong with sharing transport back with me, I passed round my glass... Didn't I?

Training... What's that?

Now all I need is a bent Doc to give me a cert... Mens seems to spring to mind!!!???

If we do get serving blokes, then would it be worth while splitting into a couple of groups to allow the "slower" ones to start, and the "quicker" ones
to follow up.

Don't like the idea of a cup/shield with names on, as it's not a race. AND the age difference and abillity is too vast.

Thats all

I know I didn't make the 'Yomp' this year as I was otherwise engaged - enjoying myself and topping up my tan in sunny Spain, but hopefully if still around I will have a go next year providing the old body is capable.
I'm inclined to agree with Yorkie that there is no need for a cup/Shield. After all it's just a crowd of blokes/females 'enjoying' themselves and at the same time raising some dosh for charity.

Yorkie, re the trophy for the quickest team, that was for the serving, surely it would pull in teams galore from the Corp`s, and if its a £5 entry fee, (subject to Ratso`s approval) the trophy would vertually cost Jack.

With regards to sponsorship money, i telephoned Colin today, and due to the fact we only covered 24 miles, several people have found the loophole to get out of paying. The sum not being collected from the several people now is, £350:00. so i urge the organisers to think carefully next year about calling endex early, by the way, this isn`t a pop at the organisers. :drinking:

You are far too honest Trev, shouldn't have told 'em. Never mind, carry a sharp stilleto and do their tyres.
I see the point about an inter-unit trophy. It adds a tad of spice for the serving lads.
Oakers I'll get back to you when things firm up a bit, re printing material etc, thanks for the offer.
I've placed a bid for 125 beds at Okehampton. This has been accepted on the understanding that should the Army need the rooms we are out. On that basis we can go ahead. Anybody any complaints about kipping in a 12 man for 2 nights if necessary, so long as heads and showers are available? STOP groaning Dolman.
Lads we need to bear in mind that we are civvies having a crack at something we did yonks ago, and most of this is for our own fun, whilst earning valuable dosh for the FVF etc. To that end I intend maintaining the old KISS principle. Keep It Simple Stupid. It worked last time, and increased numbers should not cock it up this time around. Any complaints see Nurse.
The letter containing our approval has been shredded by Toots. Anybody want a Jack Russell which answers to "Yoooooo F*****g T**t"?
You should talk to somebody who gives a f**k.
