Active recovery has been shown to speed the removal of lactic acid in the blood. quote from one study i used for a university assignment "Results indicate that active recovery provides superior performance to passive rest in repeated short-term, high intensity power activities" (American research). This basically means that following a run or any interval session work, jogging about and moving is better than simply stopping. prfided that its at the right intensity... not too low, not too high!

During resistance training (i.e weight work) research has shown that periods of 1-2 minutes of passive recovery (not doing anything) were most affective a replenishing energy stroes. moving about (active) simply drained the working muscles during the next set and performance wasnt as high. Whether the PTI's take any of this into consideration at POC's will be any ones guess..... im thinking no from what ive read, where "rest" doesnt seem to exist (cheers Joeallen28).

As for stretching dont do it until you've finished the whole session and are during it following a cool down, it will aid in the recovery of the muscles (they wont feel so soar the next day). Doing it during exercise apparently decreases performance (Yank research again...)

hope that helps.

Nice one for that - at the very least that confirms for me that half the stuff you read in fitness mags/websites is utter bolx. Just do what works for you - if you see positive results, stick with it. If not, change.
