any ideas

Post by thuny »

trying to get myself into the routine of up early at 7am but i find that when i wake im severly unmotivated., about 10% of that is usually because i have to goto work but then in the first 30mins of being awake i always get the " i wont be able to handle this constantly in the military" thoughts in my head.,

anyone offer any methods or ideas of maybe getting rid of this stupid thought for me i would much appreciate it, its not the fact i have doubts about joining i cant wait to get started im just not a morning person.

7am lol, better change that to 5:30am mate.

I am not one shy of the early bird, although i was a few years back.
Just set your alarm for 5:30am, lightly fill your belly (oats is good) and then go for a run, when you come back a nice hot shower and then you should be ready for the day fully motivated knowing you got a nice run under the days belt and a proper full day (sunrise to sundown and then some).

I find when i want something alot, or have something important to get up for, i will usually get up way before my alarm. I must agree though getting up for work is a mental drag, and if it were something better (pretty much everything else) you would fly out of bed. 8)

just get up and dont think about it.

sometimes i start work at 6am, so have to be up the back of 5. When your alarm goes off its the most depressing thing in the world (especially if you were out the night before). You wonder about the house still half asleep cursing and saying "what i wouldn't do to be able to go back to bed now!" but you cant.

After 15-20 minutes you're fully awake and you dont feel like your bed anymore so its fine.

you get used to it

im running back from work everyday its about 1.5miles so after an 9 hour shift on my feet lugging 90kg gas bottles around its sorting me out abit.

Having a bloke screaming in your face for not getting up quick enough and making you do 50 pressups will get you out of the habit

Indeed it will

At Lichfield a load of MPs come around with batons and start knocking on your bed if you don't get up.... :o That worked for me and I am not really an early riser.

Im terrible at getting up in the morning, I seem to need an un natural amount of sleep. I think it's because I havnt got a job at the minute and theres not much to get up for, except to train which I usually do about 12-3pm. The thing i'm least looking forward to in RT is the lack of sleep.

I found it really hard at first but once you've done it for a week or so you'll wonder why you ever slept in. Even at the weekends now I find it hard to sleep past 9am (unless I've been on the lash the night before).

I found that using the reminder function on your phone to leave yourself a message for when you wake up worked well for me. A motivational message to remind you what you're doing it for could work as it's easy to forget why you do it when you're warm and comfortable in your bed.

Also, I bet you find it easier to get up when you've got something to look forward to in the day. For instance, imagine when you have been going on holiday and you have to get an early flight, there's usually no problem in getting up when you are excited about something. Try and get yourself excited in the same way about training by thinking that because of your hard work you will one day be able to call yourself a Royal.
Aways look on the bright side of life.

Bah! I am terrible at getting up in the morning, If my alarm clocked didn't go off I will sleep for 12 hours easy, but I have recently found a time at which I am not to tired to get up which is about 6ish in the morning. I wake up, make my room spotless and neat, have breakfast then usally go cycling. By the way I go running 5.00pm every other night and I want to run in the mornings but my running partner can only run after he comes back from work. If I were to run everyday exept one, will it be more affective then running every other day because then I am getting a full days rest but I don't seem to be improving much. Any help much appriciated and stealing of this thread not intended.
