Insight Course At St Athens Camp, Wales

I've just been on a para insight course over the weekend and overall i thought it was realy good. The only problem is that i didn't get a green light to go on, because there were a few things that weren't up to scratch.
But one of things what realy got me was the Log Race, even a day after it, im still pissed off with myself, of letting go of the rope, now in doing this in P Company this action would be a fail and your done for.
Also by doing this, you are letting down yourself and also your section because you leave them your work and also its shows you are weak and you pathetic.

I do want to progress on doin my basic and i'd rather have the chance to do the course again but all i think i can do now is, keep training until my interviews.

My advice to any lads who are going on the course is:-
- aggression is the key
- keep your head down
- work hard
- do what your told
- treat everyone with respect (certanly the staff)
- dont talk back to the staff (big no no)
- don't stop until you are told to do so
- finnaly have fun, because when your tired and you think what you are doing is to hard and painful, you have to delete it and turn it into something enjoyable.

That really was the best weekend of my life!!!

The best part by far was the log race, it really is a race that is mind over matter. It hurt like hell going up and down the sand dunes but was so rewarding when we got to the finish and knew that we were on the winning team (blue log).

I didn't actually want to leave when we'd finished. The thought of having to go back to my day job was nasty. If i could have carried on and gone straight to depot from there i'd have done it without hesitation.

I know RT is gonna be a million times harder but i can't wait. I really felt part of something, even if it was only for 2 days. we had a great bunch of lads on the course and 1 section worked brilliantly together to get stuff done.

I had a feeling of belonging for the entire weekend and now i'm back at work it's gone again. i need to feel like that again.

I got personal bests for all of the activities (1.5m run, bleep test, press ups, sit ups & chin ups) and so i was well chuffed. It's amazing what you can do when you really want something

Any doubts i had about joining are now well and truly gone and i just want to be at depot NOW!!!

Don't be to hard on yourself mate, at least now you know what you have to achieve. And at least you tried to complete stuff and not fake/overact injuries like certain other people. Next time you do the log race, just don't let go, even if you feel like your lungs are going to explode!! Good luck with the training anyway mate

Yep. That had to be the best weekend ever. Im still aching today!!

I was p*ssed off when i went off the log, i just could not get any energy to get back on, i felt i had let the team down (sorry green log).

But apart from that the weekend was great! Met some great bunch of lads which i hopefully may see again one day. But i was glad to get home so i could get some sleep cos some people kept talking all night! Haha.

The weekend certainly gave me a kick up the arse and i realise now that i have a lot of training to do to get up to standards.

I would recommend this to anyone who wants to join up as it does give you an insight as to what fitness requirements are needed.

My fingers are healing up nicely after the rope burn incident, they have gone from yellow puss to yellow scabs to just scabs now. They still hurt like hell, but it was worth it.

When are you on the insight course im on the one this weekend in colchester, i've done 2 in st athan but this is my first in colchester, anyway the course is a good crack and the training staff are awesome.

As much as he can get! Like anyone else who's going to join the forces for a Career. A really good long hard look is what they need to do before commiting themselves to the graft of training, soldiering and working for 22 years in the uniform of the British Armed Forces. Be they Royal Navy, Royal Marines, Army or Royal Air Force.

A word EXREGT. Bin the "I've been there and got the T shirt and you youngsters are a load of dipshits" attitude. Lads and indeed Lasses come on this website to ask questions, be they simple questions or even daft questions about all of the Services.

What is not needed is the sarky replies you seem to get your rocks off giving nine time out of ten. Wind yer neck in or your gone in other words Superman!
