I completly agree with SPOOKY, if you look in the para forum and see some of the stuff marine wannabees are writing its quite sad, also on the army commando thread.

As ive stated before each has a different job to do and slating them all off aint gonna help is it.

The relavence of this thread is high, to finally put an end to people slagging the army, ask your self one question if there was no army would the marines survive in an all out war, no they wouldnt, and vice versa

Sometimes i think what would actually happen if all of us actually met in a place and 'debated' this topic, really i do. I wonder what would happen? The fact that a wannabe is making stupid comments about people who are already in the forces is nothing short of foolishness. Think about it, how can you possibly say anything about it, unless you've been there and got the t-shirt? Really lads.

But going back to Spooky, i do see your point and i have read through the entire bloody thread and i do see where you're coming from. All im saying is, a thread like this draws a heated reaction, this thread is testement to that fact. So, lets just save it all for when we're actually training or in the forces, and we can speak to other people FACE TO FACE.

Wicked.

I think everyone has fair points here, and there probably is nothing wrong with the topic of his post, but why post it in such a way? It's almost guarenteed to cause an argument or two in the way that you wrote your post.

I've spoken to alot of people abroad while traveling, and they all said that they think the British Military are the bes tin the World, so there's no point in slating any of it. That I agree on

I think some bubbles would be burst, and some egos might take a knock or two.

Your absolutely right, face to face would be an experience which I whole heartedly beleive would involve some very sheepish reactions from some of our more responcive buddies here.

Whats said needs to be said though and Im not one to not say anything because I might get some bad words said of me. Which in itself is testament to the mentalities of some of the people here wanting to enter the forces.

Still! We can take heart in the fact that the DS will beast some respect and humility into them when (if) they arrive at the CTC.

I hope some react to the DS telling them things they find objectionable as they have here... That woud be fun to watch...

You ever swear casually Yet_Mae? I do all the time. That aside, if people can't take me using a little censored profanity I dread to think whats going to happen when they get an annoyed member of their training team politely setting them straight shall we say?

'British Military are the bes tin the World'

FACT the only thing id add there is that we dont have many troops like america or china, so in the end it would just end up gorilla warfare if anyone invaded us, seeing some old brit granny with an sa80 fighting china, would be a laugh

You can make all the ignorant statements you want when your in a position to back them up. You can throw about all the banter you want when you've earned the right to.

Until then, wind your f**king necks in.
Hate to say it but Spooks has a point.

Recent comments about the Paras have been made, which have been distateful and more respect should be shown.

How many times have you seen such comments by qualified Royals like Tugg, Druadan? etc... I'd like to see the same comments made at Para Dept.... No I don't think so

Spooky,

As much as you are totally right with what you have said......wouldn,t it be much more funny to let them find out the hard way?

I remember being in the local pub, back on leave at the end of week four (oh the heights of being out of foundation went to some peoples heads, they thought they were trained Commando's) and a few of the lads came down to my lovely little town. Anyway, whilst talking to some girls one of the lads was giving it the big one "im a Royal Marine" and saying "no its not the Army they are shite" etc etc and along comes three guys from from my town (two of which were Royal, one a Corporal who was actually at CTC at the time, and the other guy was a Corporal in the Army, not sure of the Regiment, but he's infantry). So i take it as my cue to move away as it was very embarrasing to say the least, this lad got an absolutely roasting, firstly from the lad in the Army, then secondly from the two Marines who made damned sure he was never going to gob off again untill he had at the very least passed the Commando course and got himself to a unit. He went from thinking he was Rambo to feeling absolutely pathetic. BUT lesson learned, he did go on and pass out of training, but im sure he will never forget that day, who knows it most likely helped him along the way.

I ment that in a freindly way ^

as in I would like to know.

And you have to start somewhere, I think I am being proactive by preparing myself for my PRMC with the use of this website. Also as I have come from Australia, I had to find my information about the British Forces somewhere..
