AM or PM hmmm?
Alright guys, hows things.
Just thought id ask you lot whether you find it easier to do your runs (or indeed any aspect of your training) better in the morning or at night. I dont mean Morning being before noon either i mean 5.30am sorts of times and a reletive similar to nights (i.e. not evening, but actually night!)
Ive recently (not planned as such) really cut down my training and am trying to fit it into my lifestyle a little better, as it was i was training for around 15 - 20hrs a week now its more like 5, if that sometimes!! not a good thing but thats why im trying to get back on it.
Just a quick word about that Dispatches prog from the other night as well - I dont really wana tread old ground because i know a lot of you have posted in the actual thread about the prog. Jus thought id say how seeing those injuries (amputies etc) really brings home the fact that no matter how well your trained - a hidden bomb has no discrimination and will mutilate an SAS man the same as a civi farmer. Then again, goes with the territory i guess, bitter with the sweet.
I know its a bit of an essay, but thanks for reading.

ive never seen before 8:00am, ferk that too early for me
needless to say most of my running is in the afternoon (3:00pm-7:00pm) or morning (9:00-11:00am)... best to avoid midday because of the heat (if its sunny)... on a side note i go running in all weathers - find the most exhilerating running in the rain!!! when its pwissing it down and im totally soaked through, i tend to go through rivers and such just to make more mess when i get 'ome

i like going early morning at about 6 am because its not that hot, and there aren't many people on the streets by then, so you can throw on a mp3 player and just stroll in peace. in the morning id say you definetly feel more energetic due to the fact that your body is rested and you haven't exerted yourself yet that day.

Quick question for you early morning trainers.... If you got running in a morning how long before you actually set off from when you wake and what food do you have?
I found that if I eat lat in the evening, and then wake up, I'm absolutley starving. If I don't eat for like 6 hrs before bed I feel ok in the morn.
So I don't know if it's just me but I feel that way. Also, if I'm running in the morning, ie straight out of bed. I mostly have about half a cream egg to boost sugar because it's not really even a bit to eat, but it gives sufficient energy. Also taking on lots of fluids the night before works and maybe a sip before the run.

i agree and like the comment Hughser made about running in the rain - it kicks ass and it keeps you nice and cool too, although i was on holiday in Tobago and went for a little run and quite enjoyed the difference from the heat - it really made you feel the burn.. i think running in the extremes is more fun than just a normal british day
yup agree with much thats been said, morning run is good if you get some food into you, that always helps. Don't mind the mid day runs, but you know weather here in great old canada changes with the snap of your fingers, you go from 3 degrees at 6, to 30 degrees at 12 and you get all the little extras like humidity. It makes for a nice hot run, so it is nice when the ran does come down.

Sorry lads, don't agree there. My favourite is having supper early evening and then going out after dark. You've obviously got more time in winter but I still love it around this time. The feeling that everyone else is winding down and you're still at it is great - same as early morning I suppose. Also means you can have some fun with the drunks at weekends...
