I am off on 10th October.

What would you recommend as absolute necessities to take with you?

Overall did you enjoy it? What trade you doing?

Thanks

I'v going to RSC this coming Wednesday at Glencorse..Anyone else going on the same day?

I'v been told by my recruiting sargeant for the Royal Anglian Reg that i can get on an intake for basic at the end of September if RSC goes according to plan(touchwood)

Anyone else going for Infantry?

In the essential items part of the packing list it states underwear and sports underwear?

Any ideas what this means?

Also, do you suggest taking an Ironing Board?

Thanks

Just take a weeks worth of boxer shorts as you can keep going to the laundy to get them washed.

No need to take a ironing board, we were given 4 per section and had 10 in our section, you just need to make sure you agree on when you can use it and do your other admin inbetween it.

If needs be you can all chip in and buy one for £15 i think it is from the naafi.

ref sports underwear;

some blokes get a chaffing of the old chap whilst tabbing so they wear sports underwear or cycle shorts

zinc oxide doesnt heal blisters and you'd be a fool to tape direct onto blisters.

its very adhesive and supporting therefore it supports the feet/ankles well and can help prevent blisters, strains, bergen rub. its also unlikely to come off like other tape as its so adhesive.

be careful though some people are allergic to it and it can cause rashes which can cause blisters so try some overnight on you forehead or somewhere and if you wake up all blotching dont put it on your feet.

Is it true we get a reasonable break over the christmas period, as 12 weeks from october 10th is the 2nd January?

Anyone do their basic over the winter months/christmas?
