Can I buy an SA80?
Hi, I am interested in buying an SA80. In NZ the only version possible would be the single shot cadet version without deactivating it.
It's not hard to import anything as long as it's a legal weapon here, ie not fully automatic.
A lot of my mates use Russian SKS Carbines which are so cheap here and are a good goat zapping gun.
If it's an impossibility then never mind I'll stick with an old SLR, which are also cheap and available, just not as unique!
Cheers, Benjo

give a man a bullet, he'll ask you for a gun.
Give a man a gun, he'll be giving away the bullets

The SKS that I most often used did not have a slide or fold out Bayonet, it had a short magazine also which meant that anyone with a Firearms Licence could buy it.
The NZ gun laws are reasonably common sense, you cannot posses a gun unless you have a firearms licence, you cannot use one except under the direct supervision of a licence holder, and you cannot own a military style semi auto without an MSSA endorsement. you can get a licence at age 16 but must be 18 for an MSSA. Hand guns are very hard to get a licence for, you must belong to a pistol club and undergo a thourough vetting process and your pistol must be kept in the club Armoury.
Yeah I might just stick to something available over here, SLR's are still common and have a good reputation. I think I've seen a few M16's and AR15's for sale but not a big fan of them really.
At the days end a 12 guage pump action with buckshot stops the goats bleating!
If anyone knows who or where I could import an sa80 I'm still interested but only if it's a 100% legal over there, I cant see that many would be demobbed yet

Think you might come up a few parts short there!stripey588 wrote:You could try ebay!!!!!!
There was a SUSAT sight (yes) on there the other day, it sold for over £300.
There are cocking handles, hand guards and cleaning kits.
All you need is the lower TMH section, the working parts and roberts your mother brother.

SUSAT sights are common place here.
So are SLR's AR-15's and 16's.AK-47's and 74's
I haven't seen an SA-80 though.
Not that I'd really want one.
My SLR is a good reliable rifle for general use.
The only way in this country you could change your lower reciever to accept full auto fire is to have an FFL or a badge.
I have both.
