PLT's are practical leadership tasks, basically like the ones you do on the POC and the AIB. It's just practice and we'll get feed back at the end. I received a letter from HMS Flying Fox Bristol regarding the aquaint on a first come first serve basis naturally I booked the bad boy up quick sharp.

there's also a presentation from the fleet air arm in the form of a Merlin helicopter crew, should be nice.

I noticed quite a few people were from Bristol on here so I'd thought I'd enquire.

OK, sounds like it would be a useful experience particulary for people planning on attempting the POC!

Let us know how you get on mate!

At the top of every forum there is a little 'Paypal Donate' button. If you click on this then it details several ways which you can donate to the forum!

'themattmeister'...

Are you going for a POC? If so how far are you, e.g. passed a selection interview or been given a POC date? Cause I’m doing all my interviews at HMF flying fox, just wondering.

Done all the interviews, there just discussions really and then a debrief for the POC. My POC date should be in early October for the 2006 intake.

Which intake are you going in for?

I’m also going for the 2006 intake. I have got my selection interview on the 15th of September (the last one of three) and I can’t believe how much you are expected to know. I have got like ‘navy news’, ‘globe and laurel’, ‘ships, aircraft and missiles of the royal navy and the royal marines’ to read up about! Not to mention current affairs. How did u find this final interview? How much were you studying for this, like every day? Isn’t the debrief after an exercise has occurred (e.g. the POC)? I think I’m going to have a November/December POC date if I pass this interview.

Yeah it is a briefing not a debrief, good spot, just testing.

I think the general attitude at the Flying Fox is that leanr it for the POC/AIB, any interview you have there is just merely a chat and a few questions here or there, the officer's a top bloke and he won't give you a grilling, so I just learnt the basics.

Regarding the POC date there are winter breaks after mid-october so the POC's won't take place December/November.

Oh right I’m sure he said Dec/Nov POC time, hmmm. Better hope its not any earlier then, as I’m no way ready for it (physically)! If I have an interview in September, is there any chance I could be put on an October POC? I would have it after Christmas if I could then. Although I know you get say when you want it, it just seems wrong turning down a POC.

Just be honest with the AFCO, they don't want to send you there to fail; if you explain that you're not ready yet, you were intending getting a date Nov/Dec, if that's not possible can you please have one ASAP after that, they will be very accomodating and not think any less of you :o
