Anti Military
Dont know about anyone else, but ive personally had enough of people that have no experience of the army, or have no ambition of joining giving there opinions. For instance friends and family saying the armys out dated and that only people with no hope join up!!!!!

These people have no idea what they are on about, someone saying i'm gay because i want to join the army (or in a year, in the army) is the most offensive thing they could ever say to me, and they say they have the right to because of freedom of speech! There is a huge difference between saying they dont like the idea of a job and being plain offensive!
I dont know how the serving lads feel, whether they see it as a job they do to the best of their ability or if they regard it as what they live for, but as guys and girls in the forces are doing such a superb job all over the world and pushing themselves to the limit for such low pay or praise, i feel they deserve far more respect than that, even if you don't like them at all.
People like that need a good kicking!
Cheers

National service is all very well in the right circumstances, ie shortage of manpower during a major conflict,. But i personally think that if it were to be introduced the men who want to be in the forces would soon be hacked of by loafers who dont want to be there and standards would definatley be lowered. And as a former servicewoman myself i certainly wouldnt want my back covered by someone who didnt want to be there.
I've heard a few people say things like that, but to be honest, I couldn't give a toss. I'm the one that's going to have a career with solid prospects, unique experiences and make some good mates. Not them. They're free to stick to whatever they do and only leave the country to get an infection in some cheap resort in Spain.

The majority of people who are anti-military are probably pacifists who hold deluded visions of world peace. They fail to understand how important the military is for society, and the good our armed forces do around the world. They are probably the same people who dont give any respect to veterans and dont care about the past because they view it as irrelevent. They are the same breed of poeple who accuse soldiers of killing children, and who are outcasts of society. I have no time for these people.
Then again there are other people who believe that war is simple - that a few fighter bombers could keep the peace and that the army, navy and Marines are not needed. Ive heard it all. I went to school with people who accused me of being a madman for wanting to join up. I just ignored them. Many of them have no personal ambiton.
I dont think national service would be a good idea - the majority of people are respectful, therefore punishing everyone for the minority would not be a good thing. It would also divert money away from the armed forces. Throw the bastards in jail with the queers is what I reckon should happen. Discipline does need to be strengthened in society, with good old fashioned methods - step out of line and you face the consequences.

i dont know...
seems the current generations are growing up in one of two extremes for the most part.
ignorant limp wristed pacifists.
criminals.
two years of national service would fix most of that.
anyone noticed that the pacifist movements, though around since time began, only really took strenght from the generations that did not do any kind of national service?
my dad was a soldier, and raised me with the correct disipline. i remember him teaching me hospital corners for a joke

Discipline for young people is the responsibility of thier parents but increasingly the parents dont give a shit and arent bringing thier kids up right. Therefore both the parents and thier kids need sorting out.
Lack of discipline also comes with lack of punishment - murder would only get you 20 years these days and you would be out in ten. Criminals and filth like them commit thier crimes becasue they think they will get away with it. Same with these f@#k kids - they know that they will get away with thier behaviour because nothing will be done about it. If you broke the kneecaps of these bastards everytime they committed a crime, they wouldnt do it. Im not saying we should all walk around with baseball bats, but they need to be punished harshly.
Lack of discipline doesnt come from school in my opinion. But lack of respect does - kids are taught what a spinning Jenny was used for, but they have no knowledge of events such as WW2 and the Falklands. How the hell will they ever learn to respect people if they arent aware of what they have done?
Our criminal justice system is a joke. Power is increasingly going to people who are more concerned about the rights of criminals than thier victims and law and order.
I still dont bleieve that universal National Service is the answer. But I rember watching a program about Russian national service - the lads were treted like shit and beated severly, but they learned respect. Wouldnt get away with that in our country with Liberty and the like complaining about everything that happens.
In my opinion theres two extremes - the society where people are too shit scared to step out of line, and the liberal society - where poeple who step out of line arent challanged. Guess which one we live in.
Im careful not to blame social problems on the politicians. But crime, anti0social behaviour and social disorder are problems that the politicans arent doing enough to counter. They are too preoccupied with statistics.

Why can't the parents take responsibility? They are the kids parents and if they brought them up correctly - there would not be a problem.
We disciplined our kids from the age of three. By the time they were eight or so, they didn't need any more disciplining.
If you have firm parents - you don't have any problems in later life.

PS And by disciplining, I don't mean beating them.
