RSC on Tuesday 14th June
RSC on Tuesday 14th June
Hey this is great news and all, going to RSC in 5 days, but I am getting more and more nervous and paranoid about things, I just would like to know if anyone can give me tips, what/how to do things, stuff like that, anything really.
Also, can anyone give me an estimate on how I will do with these stats:
Chins: 13/14
Situps: 56 in 1 min
Pressups: 40 in 1 min
Squats (holding 4kg dumbbell in each hand): 90-95 (no time)
1.5 mile: 10:29 is my best
Cheers for any responses I get on this.

I passed RSC about a month ago, and to be honest i was exactly the same. Well nervous the day before and sh*tting myself on the train going up. But its a piece of p*ss really mate. Its nothing to worry about.
Tips:
Give 100% at everyting you do, you are being watched from the time you get there until you leave.
Keep your mouth shut, if your mouthy you will fail for bad attitude etc.
Important: Work like a b*stard on the command tasks as this is where most people fail. Get really stuck in and shout alot.
Thats all really mate its nothing to worry about.
Your fitness seems to be good but it depends which job your going for.
p.s. you dont do any pressups or situps at RSC.
Regards
Chris

With results like that your obviously not a fat bastard. The only thing guys failed at when i did RSC last month, was the medical.
The atmosphere is totaly layed back there, but then again im comparing it to the PRMC. Just make sure you can nail that 1.5 mile run, and while your there, show them your keen and determined.

Cheers for the advice guys - appreciated. Yeah I've been told that even if Im yelling a pile of crap to my team it doesn't matter as long as Im actually taking part.
Im going for the Signals, so if I can keep my run time under 11min I think Im going to be ok, as Signals and Engineers are similar, Im guessing?
I am sh*ttin a brick about this though!
Hope everything goes OK..
What do they do at the medical?

dont worry about being nervous.you will wonder why when you get there.
everyone there is in the same boat.
put in 110% and you cant fail.
you seem to have the fitness so just go up there and put in a good effort
the medical is alot of waiting around, you have to do a hearing test, eye test, body fat test. then you go and se the doctor for an examination.

You get your eyes tested with a snellen chart, your hearing tested (What?), BMI and fat% using some nice clamps. Then you have a medical with the doctor where he/she tests your joints, makes sure your backs straight, checks your tendons, breathing and heart ETC.
O and he cops a feel and makes you cough.
Most people get refered, not failed because of a heart murmur which needs to be checked out at a heart specialist which they book for you.
Dont worry about it and you should be fine.

Well at the end of the day mate there's no point in worrying about it atall mate. whether you worry about it or not, when the day comes you still have to do it. So just do the things which will only help you on the day i.e get stuck into training. its like with everything, what you put in is what you get out. so get get stuck in and you should be fine.Buzz wrote:Well that's a load off my chest - thanks for that Gaz.

Sorry mate..
Erm, we started off with heaves i did 12 but only 4 counted
then we did the static lift and i got something like 101kg
then the back extensions i got 138kg
then the dual lift to 1m 45cm got both of those
then the jerry can walk...harder than i thought...the last test so i was knackered: got 127.5m out of 150m..my knuckle burst open due to my strenuous grip and that hurt like f*ck! so i dropped the cans what a muppet
mile and a half..we did one lap warm up which knackered us all since we did PT the day before so we were all f*cked! i got 11:06 best effort.
first choice was Royal Signals Electrician and i passed that..
Im really chuffed and relieved...nothing to worry about and feel like a mug for being so nervous cos there isnt ANYTHING to be nervous about!
