Hello guys and girls,

Been reading the forums for a few months now but havent got round to posting, so i thought i would.

So.... hello.

Anybody applying for CIS (OM) trade? if so... How far down the application process are you? How you feeling about it? How is the fitness trainging going? etc etc. Anything useful really and i am all ears.

I have passed the appitude tests and i am just waiting for the trade to re-open as it were, anybody else in the same boat?

ttfn

hi there matey,

im going for this trade, i have been given a provisional start date for 30th november to start basic training. this is only provisional though, subject to further interviews and if anything goes wrong, ive done the medical and passed it, along with the initial interview.

Hello alex,

All i have done at this point in time is my application forms, appitude tests and various chats with the AFCO staff. I have been told that my application is now frozen until the trade re opens for recruitment, when that happens everyone goes into competition and i will have my interview. Then i believe all the applications are sent to the MOD for a selection and barring any problems on the medical & fitness the best of crop are taken. I have been told things will get up and running by the end of the summer, tis a few months but gives me time to get fit as f@#k :)

This is just what I have been told could have crossed wires so input from yourself or anyone else would be appreciated, does it differ to your application? Also, when did you start your application? Have you got an IT related job/qualifications that would help?

Im currently contracting as IT tech services and im 21. Not sure if that matters but pool our information we might be better off

Cheers for the reply and sorry for all the questions :)

hi, i passed my aptitude test at the second attempt in september 04, at the time i was applying for the avionics trade, however i was not selected in the competition twice. they suggested i looked at the CIS tech trade, which i then applied for the month after or there abouts. had my initial interview at the AFCO, then the medical about 2/3 weeks after.

the only qualifications i have are my gcse's and a BTEC in networking. i also did some evening work in a computer workshop fixing computers and networking them.

i turned 20 yesterday, not sure whether age really matters. so are you waiting for your initial interview pete?

someone i know through one of my mates has recently quit the RAF, he said he was bored, but everyone is different and im sure if he would have stayed there a while it would have got better. it seems a shame really, all that waiting and he leaves.
