pay during iot
hey
don't know if anyone knows the answer to this but what is the pay for graduates during iot? would be grateful as trying to play with budgets and finances at the moment. i know it's sad but i have credit card bills to pay after travelling and i'm planning next year's trip already!

yeah i was under the impression it was acting pilot officer's pay but the level thing gets me really confused. got the latest pay review report but don't know what level i'll be so it's not much use!! didn't think it would be as much as £20,000. i thought i'd graduate as a flying officer on about £24,500 - £25,000. but the more the better i guess!

I thought that it was just over £1000 per month, there was a thread on here ages ago about it.

pay at IOT...not as much as you think!
sorry to put a downer on things folks but I was recently at Cranwell and was told by a very nice Squadron Leader that the pay at IOT is £11,000 a year.. works out at about £675 a month! Means that a lot of the professionally qualified applicants will be taking a huge cut in salary and is putting quite a few people off applying! As for me.. I will just sell one of my husband's kidneys to pay the rent if I make it to IOT! Seems only fair...
Hi TJD,
As a nurse hoping to go to the SERE course I hope you are right.. If I get through I will come out as a Flt Lt because I have been doing this job for over a decade now. The idea of dropping from a sister's salary to that of a health care assistant for 11 weeks had left me slightly worried.. let alone what my bank manager was going to think! Hey ho.. it's all part of life's rich pattern blah blah. Must check again. No doubt I will get a different answer from each person I ask.

answering my own question but i found this out while on my fv and thought people might be interested. this is for a graduate: during iot £18874 gross - works out at around £13000 after tax, ni, food & accommadation. goes up to around £25000 on graduation as a flying officer. for non-graduates, i think its around £13000 gross during iot then up to £19000 on gradutation as a pilot officer (or acting).
Graduates start at level 5 on the combined Plt Off/Fg Off scale, which is effectively the base rate for a Plt Off. The time served on each scale varies with experience and qualifications, and you'll get credit for time in previous work if you're joining a professionally-qualified branch like nursing.
Non-graduates will start on the Officer Cadet payscale, and are commissioned as A/Plt Offs on graduation. Graduates technically begin their commissions on day 1 of IOT rather than the end.

Anybody who's joining IOT course 216 and wants a friendly person to talk to, I'm in BB 80, room 1. OK, so I'm biffed and on holding flight, and off the aircrew course, but I've been round Cranwell since December, and I'm pretty good at ironing, if you help me bull my shoes...

To the lady thats joining as a nursing officer - I work at the tri-service nurse training unit. I know you are already qualified but I wouldn't worry about your futre income, the good ladies and gents I work with in the PMs earn CONSIDERABLY more than me !!!!!! And don't you only have to go to Cranwell for a month or something?
