Thanks very much all of you for all your congratulations. It means a hell of a lot to have so many people congratulate you for something you have done, particularly from those who have already achieved it and have taken the path that im about to.

Wato 212 in answer to your question i think it's 30 or 31 that's passing out with my troop: 881 (a couple failed the 30 miler), with 20 originals (including myself).
The hardest part in training for me was, for absolutely no reason at all, losing my motivation to do this. Some days i would just hit rock bottom and feel crap and my drive and focus would just vanish and i couldn't explain why. That in itself was hard, but i knew deep down i had to crack on even when i really didn't want to. I guess it was all down to my body and mind being exhausted and after a break. In the end i learnt to try and make the best out of every shit situation i found myself in because getting down about it was only gonna make it that much more painful.

Toffee; im putting in for 40 Commando but ive heard its difficult to get in there. I can't choose between 42 and 45 for my second choice. Everyone ive spoken to whos been there loves them both, but to be honest i don't really care where i go. They all do the same thing. Im just eager to get out there and put my training to good use. Im fit, young and eager for a bit of action right now.
The best bit in phase 2 training for me? thats a tough one. I enjoyed different parts of it like Ex. First Base for example. Getting the weekends off has gotta be up there. I found my training team treated us differently in phase 2 as well. They tended to wrap on the bullshit and really get down to teaching us what we needed to know. The closesness you get with your oppos is another. How ever close you are to them now youll go through a few hard times, both individually and as a team, and youll become even closer. What i consider to be the best bits i can guarantee won't be the same as anyone else you speak to though. Its each to their own really. Whatever you enjoy about it its a lot better than phase 1. Good luck mate. Just think, youll be doing all your exercises in the summer!! Youve proffed there!!

Hope ive answered your questions alright,

Thanks again

Hi carlsile-youth,

Do you know a lad called L******* P******* ? Hes a good friend of mine hes in your troop. Hows he getting on?
No. No-one failed Final Ex. from my troop. A couple of lads came off it injured though. Field Firings good. The CQB lanes you do are awesome. If you don't enjoy this you're in the wrong line of work me thinks. You can fail Field Firing, but only if your drills are bad, like not putting your safety catch on before you move. They're really big on safety. It's much more a learning exercise then anything else but if you remain switched on you'll have no problems.

Hope you avoid injury mate. A friend of mine who i trained with before we both started in 881 made it all the way to week 28 then injured himself on cheeky wednesday!! Now unfortunately he's in Hunter.

Good luck take and one day at a time...

Congratulations mate! That is awesome!! I cant wait to be in your position one day.

I know this may sound a stupid question, but looking back on it, did the 32 weeks go fairly fast? Or has it been the longest 32 weeks in your life?

Also, how often do you get to practice the Tarzan Course before actually doing it in the Commando test?

Well done Andy. Its an awesome feeling isn't it and that 30 miler is emotional. Do I know you mate? I am the old diamond geezer (ex 874 Tp/Hunter). I passed out with 880 Troop a week ago and I joined your troop for Cheeky Wednesday with a bunch of Hunter lads. By the way I got 40 cdo together with 5 other men.

Cheers Daveb,

The first 15 weeks for me went really slowly, they seemed to drag on forever. But once i entered phase 2 it flew by.
You practise the Tarzan Course 2/3 times for your acquaint on cheeky wednesday and once more on the friday just after it (both week 28 ). On the day youll do a dry run with no kit just to refresh your memory. It's only really the Tarzan course youll practise when you do do it. Youll have done the assault course so many times by then youll know it like the back of your hand! Theres 9 obstacles (i think) that make up the Tarzan course.

LMDAVIES: Well done mate. for your green lid and getting 40cdo! Did you pass out as a diamond? I remember there being 6 or 7 Hunter lads that did cheeky wednesday with us. Which one were you mate? Have you started at 40 yet or are you going there at the end of leave?

Congrats LM and Andy, can't wait to be in your shoes meself  Our training team made a big fuss over you not having anyone fail Final Ex, the whole "Well if they can do it so can you," etc, didn't quite turn out like that though! LMDavies, you must know one of my oppos from 874 named Olly D. fairly chunky lad from Essex, joined 874 in wk3 (originally 868 but did his ankly in wk2), got backtrooped to 875 in wk29 or something cos he got mumps, now gone to 45. Be easier if I could just put the name in 8)

Where're you being posted to Andy? We seem to have near of half of 881 with us now, got almost as many back-troopers as originals! Couldn't you have kept hold of a few of them

Ha ha. I think they all prefered the sound of your troop to be honest mate. You lot had San Carlos, duvets the works we were told. To be honest it did sound inviting :D

Howd Final Ex. go mate? It's a good exercise really, if youve got the weather! Did any of the lads from 881 fail?

Druadan: Yes I know this fella, he called me 'Gramps' and I called him 'Chubs' - Shame he got backtrooped for something so stupid but it was only two weeks.

Andy: Yes I did pass out with my Diamond but they changed their minds about me going on the Kings Badge board as I was only in 880 troop for the tests. I was the fella that fell off the top bar of the jump into cargo net (the one that you run and punch into) and fractured my foot. Got put into Hunter at week 31 and was an original - threaders!
