BARB
Same here i scored 71 and the numeracy and literacy tests oh my gosh they are the easiest things ever.Bootie wrote:Well as we are chatting about it I might aswell get big headed and say that I got a score of 71.
"Which words in this text are spelt wrong" Its a breeze.
Just shows u dont need to be great shakes at everything. I got nothing higher than a C in my GCSE's and I had to take maths again to get myself a C. Only thing i got an A in wasgerman but thats cos i am half german. Im going for Spec Ops so hopefully if i get in then its proof GCSE's and things like that arent everything
Just a bit of motivation...
Buzz old chum, you said you are going straight into Special Operations Signals, have you yet passed your training as a Soldier. Also when you say you are going into Special Operations are you talking about the SAS or the SBS as they are the only Special Operations Sections at the moment. So what you are saying that you have already been hand picked to join one of these units before you have even started training.
Alright. Lesson learnt. I can type though!
In case you guys don't believe me... However, succeeding in the BARB test is easy although I may not portray myself to think it is easy, it is, and I agree, questions like:
Jo is not as tall as Mike
Who is taller?
That's when it gets mildly difficult, especially when you have to think fast. But numeracy and literacy is reasonably simple - there's nothing complex about it.

Hey that was a nice post. Cheers Stix, hope I do make it, Army's been my dream since I was about 4 years old (pretty much ever since I could understand things around me).
I have a question... Although the academic requirements of a Specialist Operator states that you need C's in English, Maths and a Science (at GCSE level), I have C's in maths and English but not a science, however I am fluent in speaking German (got an A at GCSE - 2 years before I should have taken the GCSE) and managed to get 71 in the BARB, would that be acceptable and compensate for my lack of a C in a science..?
Probably a really confusing question, hope somebody understands me.

Buzz Like sticky said pop down to your local AFCO.
I got 72 on my barb and i have got 2 C's in Science (double award) A C in Maths, a C in Resitant materials (woodwork and metal work) and an D in English.
I wanted to do plumbing or electrician in the Engineers but you need C or above in English, My AFCO said that they can put you forward for a job which they think you can do but dont have the grades for by writing to the local recruiter for that job.
They wrote to the Engineers honcho and asked if i could do them 2 jobs but unfortunalty he said no.

Sorry bro, didn't realize that you meant Specialist Operator (Signals). Best of luck, Kyle.Buzz wrote:Yeah, I meant Specialist Operator, sorry about that. No no I can type, its just it's a forum and I usually can't be bothered to type properly, I don't want to start anything negative due to any misconception I've caused so I apologise.
I meant Specialist Operator, and yes, I aspire to become one.
