Can I join as an Officer?

Post by rsn1984 »

I've got 8 GCSEs A-C, 5 AS-Levels (1c, 1d, 3es only at AS) an a NVQ Level 2. Is this enough or do you need full A-Levels/degree? I've already applied as a recruit.

when i went to the careers office for the first time to apply for the royal marines i also looked into doing the YOC. I was told i wouldnt really have a chance as of my age and qualifications, i was told the best oppurtunity for doing that would be around 21-22 years of age, and have a uni degree or something along those lines (or marine experience). I have by the way 10 GCSE's 1 GNVQ and A BTEC National Dip (which is equivalent to 3 A levels) and i am also 18 years old. Go back to your local AFCO again and say to them your interested, they may say something different to you, i dont know. I think you do have enough "official qualifications" to be academically accepted, but whether they choose you is another matter.

Like Mike said, you will find the exact answer to this problem by asking the people at the AFCO.
