If i was to join the RAF i would want to train as an avionics engineer, therfore i would like to know after completing apptitude tests, interviews etc do you get offered the trade you wish to learn providing your tests are passed or do they try and persuade you to learn a trade in which they need staff?

Hi, when I first applied I applied to be a student staff nurse, unfortunately I didn't get the right amount of, points if you like to go for that trade. So, basically they take your score from your A.S.T and see which trades from their list you have qualified for. They didn't try to talk me into applying for another trade, they did however mention that I should at least think about the trades that were open to me.
Hope this helps you chick,
good luck,

They will offer you any trade that:

a. You have gained sufficient test score for.

b. You have the right academic qualifications for (where applicable).

c. Is open for recruiting at that time (i.e. they have vacancies for).

d. You demonstrate sufficient motivation for.

Obviously point 'd' means that you must ACTUALLY WANT to do that trade - so they won't try and twist your arm to do a job that won't suit you.

The simple fact is that there are more applicants for the RAF than there are vacancies. They don't need to persuade people to do anything! :D
