Joining instructions guide

Post by para001 »

well i got a huge book today from the AFCO and it has kit list ect and it also has a week by week plan from week 1 to week 24 at catterick training camp (vimmy barracks) and as i was looking i seen this:

week 19: 3 Day exercise, Driver theory training and testing.

Can someone please set me right. Is this just the driver theory test or is it driving test aswell? Anyone done it yet?

/thanx

Driving

Post by pegasus »

There is some misunderstanding about the driving test and when it is done; the recruit documents are abiguous about the driving test, it says week 19, but my son was told it would be done after basic at his posting to a unit, his company commander has asked him to sign his application for a driving test. Getting your theory test done now (valid for 2 years) will place you at the top of the list when it comes to driver training.
Hope this helps.[/u]

No you dont need one to join, some if not all corps teach you. I only have a provisional and part of my training is getting my full license after basic and combat engineer training.

if you do not have a provisional when starting training it will slow down the process of getting your tests done. by the time your intake group has done their tests you wont have started training and then you have to wait till the army can fit you in with another group. its much better to get it before hand and it is only 50 quid plus you get another form of ID that helps.
