I find that most of the very ill informed comments about the troops come the young lads you have never heard a shot fired in anger. The nearest some of these people have come to serving in the military is probably in Cubs at junior school. Where do these people get off giving such advice to the Americans armed forces when there knowledge of the subject come from war films and comic books. There are the comments about what the Americans did or did not do during WW2, I watched them as a young lad flying out every day on those daylight mission over Germany and they took one hell of hammering but they carried going. Their troops fought hard and long in Europe and helped us to the ultimate victory. there losses in the Pacific where very high and they had some terrible casualties but they kept on the attack all the time. So the comments about when what they did during the war is totally unjustified.

As was pointed out elsewhere on this site the US Army Rangers came into being as a result of the British Army Commando units and the Trident subs are British designed and built. The missiles may be yours but the subs aren't.
Owdon Vietnam was not a military defeat, it was a political defeat. America never lost an open field battle in Vietnam. alright since you like history so much, lets talk about the 100 year war with France where you got your asses handed to you, or how about the American Revolution? LOL. WW2 anyone?
Alright Ms. Grim you are correct in that statement about the French helping us yanks, we never doubted that and are thankful in the part of the France, unlike some others *ahem*. But do a little more research for yourself and these ill-informed school children on this forum and try finding out how many times the French came to our aid? Thats right, we did nearly all of the fighting.
Well you can say i do get a a fair amount of my knowledge from TV. Over here we have the History Channel and i watch that as much as i can, most coverage on this channel is arguably correct.

The fact of the matter is that at least we're all good friends. A bit of baiting is all well and good, but when it comes to the crunch we back the USA up and they back the UK up. It's a lovely arrangement which hopefully will continue for many many years to come. We know who we'd rather have fighting alongside us, and I like to think the Americans have a similar view with regard to us Brits. As Tab said, the USA took a hell of a pounding in the Pacific, and in those raids over Germany, yet gritted it out whilst helping us to the final victory.
A bond like that is hard to ignore, and I for one am glad of it.
P.S. Who thinks Michael Jackson's gonna be sent down?

You stated that the American Rangers are based on the British Commandos, well this is not so, and if you have bothered to read any history at all you would that the American Rangers is probably one of the oldest American fighting units. It was formed by the British to fight during the French and Indian wars long before the Americans took up arms for their Independence. The Commandos name came from a word used by the Boers to describe some of there top mobile fighting units and we borrowed the word and the word has only been in the British language for just over a hundred years.
