Fitness Requirements For Light Infantry

Post by Bourney »

1. Does anyone know what the basic fitness requirents for joining the Light Infantry are (1.5 mile run, pull ups, push ups, sit ups etc)?

2. Can anyone give me some tips on imporving my endurance during exercise also?

Thanks for the help

For the run, under 10 1/2 minutes used to be a pass, they'll expect a lot better and they won't like it if you're slower...
and it used to be 3 pull-ups, 10 for the paras.

Try and do about 200 press ups and sit ups daily until you join...
(in sets) you should be able to do 50.
Dunno if they test those...

To increase your endurance, just keep increasing your distance every time you go running even if it's only by a few hundred yards.
When you're doing a few 6-10 milers 2 or 3 times a week at a decent pace and a run with hill sprints, you'll be more than fit enough to start infantry training...
ie: most of the lads won't be that fit...

light infantry

I just got back from RSC for Paras and had to older bros recently come out of light infantry.

ok 1.5 mile run to be completed in 10.30 or under, dont worry If you cant reach tat just yet alsong as you can by the end of first 12 weeks.

Press ups is 54 to pass that is in 2 minutes (best effort)
Sit ups is 60 to pass also in 2 minutes

That is called the BPFA you do your press ups then sit ups and then the run.

Pull ups is 4 to pass but aim for about 10.

on your recruit selection you are not tested on press ups or sit ups.

Hope this helps

Aaron :D

They both seemed to enjoy it had a bro in each battalion 1 and 2. I decided to do one step better and go para!
