Anyone actually in Para basic ?

Hello all
Just thought id see if there was anyone on hear actually doing basic training in the Paras at the moment? And wether they could give me a little insight into the standards to expect in the first few weeks I.E Runs that you do etc. or maybee just a typical day out of training cheers

You will normally arrive to depot on the sunday - a day of admin, and making sure everyone has arrived, who is scheduled to arrive. Your training will start on the Monday.

Week 1 is Screening Week. This is basically to test your fitness, and attitude. Also gives the corporals a chance to assess you, and you to assess those recruits around you. Expect a couple of sessions in the gym, MSFT, BSFT, BFT, Steeplechase, and an introduction to the Trainasium.

If you dont pass screening week, ie, are not fit enough, then chances are you will be sent to a seperate platoon, which specialises in building up your fitness ready for the next intake 5-6 weeks later. For those who do pass screening week, your training will begin gradual, and build up over the coming weeks. You will start on tabs and runs of about 3 miles, which will be gradually increases as the weeks go by.

Alot of recruits view the first 6 weeks as the hardest. Not only is this due to recruits going threw the changes of been away from home, but free time is down to a minimum. Personal Administration is a high priority, with frequent locker inspections, room and block inspections, making sure clothes are ironed, boots polished, beds made, and just as importantly, recruits washed and shaved. Personal Hygiene is viewed as a high priority.

PT Sessions will appear hard at first, but you will gradually get used to them, even thou they will not appear to get any easier. End of day, make sure you got a strong mind, and a good sense of humour with you. Not everything is physical.

just go for runs as much as possible press ups n sit ups and pull ups importatb u get thrashed a lot at first i got muscle fatigue in my first 2 wks coz my arms werent used to the strain. but do not go especially in the first few wks unless ur limbs r hangin off they will think u r jack. thats the fitness side. the other side just make sure u do wot ur TOLD and u cant go wrong stay on top of ur locker etc give 100% in EVERYTHING u do and u will b fine. and enjoy some Corridor olympics etc
