When is your RSC shmoo, and where abouts in the Uk are you? You might be on the same one as me, if yours is on Wednesday.

Yeah, you need to be confident...you'll be f@#k nervous as hell just like everyone else, but just speak loud and clearly. Make your speech nice and simple. One guy in my group completely f@#k up because he was way too nervous. He tried to give too much infomation and became confused and fumbled because of it. Just keep one eye on the headings provided and one eye on the group. If you can write a speech on paper and just memorise it for the day. They don't want a whole lot of infomation, just a short description of you and your general back ground. There just marking you on your communication skills not the length of your speech.
Example speech -
Hello my name is Joe Bloggs, I'm 18 from London. I live with my Mum and Dad, sister and brother. My hobbies are Swimming, Football and Reading. I want to join the REME because I like to fix vechicals that are broken and I want to gain qualifications in mechanical engeering. My ambition in life is to be a Mechanic and work for a worthwhile career. I've been doing a lot of running, circuit training and cycling to prepare myself for the army. Then the sargeant will ask you your mile and a half running time.
Headings on the board -
Name and age?
Where you live and Family? (Try not to give too much detail)
Hobbies and Interests? (If you have none then make some up)
What regiment and capbadge you want to join (make sure you know bacuse some people didn't even have a clue. If your joining the Infantry give the regiment i.e Prince of Wales, Black Watch or Para)
Ambitions?
What have you done to prepare yourself for the army? (What exercises)
...Just go down in the order, one guy didn't and f@#k up...however he still passed selection like many other people who you thought should of failed. The team task was difficult becuase you just feel like a stupid prick shouting out. Just make yourself heard even if you don't know what to do. Things like well done 43 or come on guys we need to be quicker...One guy failed selection because he was too quite, so make sure you at least shout something out. Oh and your asked to write all this down on a questionnaire when you get on the bus, so make sure you know what to write. It helps if you know stuff about the army too because your given a 20 question test. Things like what rifle do the British army use?, What's the main battle tank called? what's the new attack helicopter called?, Whats the Queens birthday callled?, What's the abbreviation for camoflarge?, Name 3 Corps in the British army? etc
Hope this helps..good luck!
