Some information on the SERE course for next February

Post by Ash »

Hi !

I have recently been selected to for the 8 week SERE course for February next year as a doctor. I have also got to attend an IOT Fitness Assessment in December. Any details on what SERE course format is and what they look for ?

During the IOT fitness assessment I am informed that I need to buy 'some kit' - any suggestions as to what to look out for ?

BTW - proud to have gotten this far and been given a chance with the RAF :D .

Sorry, my fault - failed to stat that I have already been a doctor for 12 years.

Nevertheless, no problem too big or too small.

Depends on where the warts are. If you have been a bit naughty, well ...I would suggest a specialsit opinion and something a bit more powerful then cuplex cream.

Ash

I'm on the SERE course in Feb as well (pending final clearances - fingers crossed!)

I'm also from South Wales - Newport to be exact. I'm going in as a solicitor. Where are you from?

As far as I am aware (correct me if I'm wrong) the course is 8 weeks - the first 4 will be mostly physical basic training the second four will consist of knowledge of the RAF, etc etc. I don't think we go into our specialised areas until after the 8 weeks.

Hope this helps!

Hi MG,

I am from South Wales as well. I have sent you an email with details.

I have also been lucky enough to be sent a programme of events (so to speak) for the SERE course and pouring through this it should be very interesting. However, the one thing that was a surprise to me was that during the 8 weeks there is little time (two weekends in all) that I will be able to come back home to the family.

Anyway, a small sacrifice to pay for the privilege.
