RA Interview after familarisation visit...

Just wondering if anyone has been to one of these before? I've been given the impression its quite informal but am just doing a quick recce to see if anyone recommends any specific prep for it? I'll be brushing up on my knowledge of the regiment anyway, just in case, but thought I'd check.

It's described as an interview for sponsorship but a) I'm already sponsored and b) they kind of indicated they would sponsor me already by offering to book me on an RCB Brief (which I've just passed with a Cat 1). In fact, I'm not quite sure what the purpose of the interview is!

Its a great day! Woolich is fantastic. It is mega informal and you have a chat with Col Tindall about your plans. Its more a confirmation for him I think. Its a meal and a few chats, a look at the silverware and a swift half. I recommend going to the Artillery museam which is over the road.

Museam is cheap and there is some interesting stuff (even a paintball range if I remeber correctly!) They also have a piece of the Supergun that we made for Saddam.

Cheers for that. How's your application going so far?

I have passed RCB and am starting in Jan 05. I am currently trying to get around as many Regiments as possible. The RA are my sponsor.

You not gonna give Para POC a shot Ben?

I had an interview in April and they said that they would send instructions for a POC but not to expect a speedy response. I suppose after 5 months I should chase them. I am meeting the Gurkhas in December as well as a few Cavalry/Tank Regiments. I may be a little aged for the Paras at 24 pre Sandbags though!

I wouldn't worry, the average was about 22 when i was on it. There as a 27 year-old and he passed (granted he was a serving soldier).

But I say go for it. You'll see how switched on and professional the Regiment is. I knew after that course that it is where i wanted to be. (I was just lucky the feeling was mutual).
