RMR London Holding Troop
RMR London Holding Troop
I just thought I would remind people that RMR London (Portsmouth) are starting their holding troop this Tuesday (7th) at 1930.
I would imagine that the other London detatchments are also starting holding troops this week? The selection weekend will be in October.
Is anybody else hoping to join London?

Good luck Seamaster (if you are yourself joining). When's the Selection weekend? (I got half way through basic training with RMR Porstmouth).
The PTI down there (Mne Cummings i think?) is very good and you will benifit from his sessions. Let me know how you get on, and if you need any advise just ask mate. Say hello to some of the lads in training for me (i'm Jason Zubiena) - they're all good lads and will help you out with advice and support. See if you can get out training with some of the guys in your troop or even the troop ahead of you in your own time if you can because it will do the world of good to practice firemans carries and all that with likeminded (and likebodied) people.
Keep us updated!

Didn't realise Cummin's was at Portsmouth Det. Good bloke, top PTI. Oh the fun we had on the PT2 course. As for the drinking......best not say any more, don't want to undermine his autorityStatistic wrote:The PTI down there (Mne Cummings i think?) is very good and you will benifit from his sessions.
Chaos, Disorder, Destruction.....My work here is done!

Why can't you accept that some days you're the pigeon, and some days you're the statue.

He's been coming down to Portsmouth det for a few months now because Portsmouth det hadn't got it's own PTI, infact it hadn't got many staff at all, although it was quite a bit better by the time I left.
Before Marine Cummings we hardly had any Phys sessions and had to 'borrow' PTIs from the Royal Navy Bases and Royal Marines School of Music nearby every so often! They never thrashed us enough.
Not only is he a PTI but an AE and a qualified LC rating from what i've heard - And he's only a Marine!
- A good example of RMR opportunities.
...Can't wait till I finish Uni !

Sounds like a good plan. I'd be up for that.Statistic wrote:See if you can get out training with some of the guys in your troop or even the troop ahead of you in your own time if you can because it will do the world of good to practice firemans carries and all that with likeminded (and likebodied) people.
I was the guy that got laughed at for being "on holiday" next week so I'm extra keen to practise whatever I miss.
If any of you are in Portsmouth i'd be very willing to train with you because i'm keen to maintain my fitness as i intend to try again at some point. I'm still in the mind set when i train and none of my mates are in the same zone if you know what i mean. There was a guy called Damian in the current Alpha troop who lives in portsmouth who i was gonna train with before i left, might still.
By the way, don't forget you can use the Gym for Free at HMS Excellent when you get into training, just get the officer to write you out a note and and go in to the gym and ask for a pass and the they should sort you out the PTI there is usually pleased to help.

I shouldn't think so he joined through the Reserves a few years back i think, but obviously i don't know... There's a guy in Alpha training who's got a younger brother who joined the RMR with Cummins. Is that Daz Cummings who was a signaller in the regulars (mostly 42 cdo) in the mid-90's?
