Formal interview at AFCO

Post by JimmyC »

Looking for some help please. I have it coming up next week and have been working hard revising for it. Just a couple of questions i would like answered:

How well do they expect your RAF knowledge to be? I have been reading up about the specifications of every plane and helicopter (types of missiles, what they're used for etc) is this along the right track?

How long will it last? I was told 2 hours but that seems an awful long time!

Thankyou! :)

GR4 has FLIRs (Forward looking infra red) on the undercarriage, just slightly forward of the wing. You should have a book with all the aircraft, missiles etc. in, read that, if you didn't get one, ask your AFCO.
Also, one has more of a defensive role, and the other is used more in attack.
You can have peace.
Or you can have freedom.
Don't ever count on having both at once.

Tornado ?

Post by 2nd time round »

Hi Jimmy,

One of the easiest ways to spot the difference between a tornado GR4 and F3 is that one has a black short nose (GR4) and the other has a longer grey nose (F3). Simple but effective !.
Keep trying & don't fall at the first hurdle !

The interview shouldn't last more than 45 minutes, but you must allow 2 hours for paperwork and the interview de-brief.
