Cant belive they said that, you spend all your spare time working your arse off tryin to get in then they tell you that. If i was you mate id try get intouch with an Officer or Nco from Para depot to find out if its true.
Almost makes you want to jack it in and go royal doesn't it, i mean at least there if you pass PRMC you no theres going to be a place open for you to give it a go

I can't belive you have not been given a placement on Basic Training for the Para's. Wouldn't surprise me if the guy who told you that was from the Royal Green Jackets Regiment. Ring up the Para Sgt on the recruitment team, he will sort it out because on the Insight Course he said if anyone gave us bullshit like this he will get on the phone and do what he does. Email the recruitment team they will get back to you. I would be really pissed off to find all my hard work of getting out and running my arse off to get my time down to be told this.

Who was it that told you there was no vacancies? Was it the PSO or your recruiter?

Whoever it was, that's well out of order. Like AlphA said, get on the phone to Para recruitment HQ (the number is 01206 782343) and tell them about it. They'll soon sort it out.

Good Luck!

When I think about it, I remember now a few years back my mate was set on joining the Paras. At RSC one of the corporals fed him some bull, they told him he was too young. He was 17 at the time, and they told him to join an Infantry unit and transfer to Paras after gaining a few years experience. Apparently the guy told him the Paras didn't like recruits too young with no military experience. Which is complete sh*te. My mate ended up in the Duke of Boots. Should never have happened. :x

There are vacancies in the regiment. The only trouble at the moment is the waiting list is quite big, as quite alot of people are wanting to join for some reason. If you want it bad enough, then get in line and wait it out. Just say to Army Careers, look, I want to join the paras. Get me on the next available intake, whenever that might be, and keep a look out for any vacancies sooner, due to people cancelling their application, etc.

Relating to the timings for the BFT. At RSC you will be required to get 9:15. When you get to ITC(C) you will be expected to run it in under 9:30 (week1 screening). You should be aiming to be getting under 9min at most before starting your training at ITC(C), too be safe, as the course is not flat all the way round.

I agree I wouldn't accept that for an excuse ever. Id get on to the para's themselves see what they have to say. The recruiting officer probably wanted you in his regt!!!
