HOW MANY POC's r there in 1 year?

Post by gunjakx »

Got a question, its probably a stupid one, but it needs clearing up anyway.. I have been told that there is only a couple of POC dates within 1 year, is this true or are there lots. i have just recently sent in my app form, how long should the whole process take before i recieve my POC date and roughly how many months are there between start or application and POC. If anyone can answer this for me that would be great.

Like i said a stupid question. :)

cheers

You can expect for your POC to be around Jan-Feb time. Should you pass this your AIB will be about a month-2 months after your POC. Then the intake is at the end of august/beginning of september. So you'll have a over a year to wait i'm afraid.

Having just been through it all i'll tell you for free that its a lot of work. your fitness has to be up to scratch and your knowledge on the navy has to be pretty up there too. Don't worry you have plenty of time, but whatever you do don't leave it all until the last minute.

Good luck with it all, i'm starting in this years YO batch so let me know what ya look like and ill keep an eye out for ya when you come down.

The hardest thing on POC looking back was probably the 3 mile speed march back to camp on the endurance course, well the last 500m after you see that bloody sign! (the one that says "Its only pain, 500m to go!")

A while back i wrote diary of the 3 days viewtopic.php?t=6654&highlight=

So have a browse through that.

On the AIB the hardest thing i found were the exams on the first morning. The mental aritmetic ones were a bit tough for my liking but you just have to crack on through, i swear at some points as well they expected you to have a thesaurus memorised. The rest i found ok. I'm sure theres a sticky at the top of the forum that has a good AIB guide in it, plus they send you loads of info before you go so i wouldnt worry too much.

And Prez, in response the only thing that is shaking are my nads at the thought of Peters Pool and that bloody water tunnel! had to break the ice on both of them!
Nahi'm getting a little apprehensive now, you know where you start flitting between crapping myself or being relly excited and confident. I know i'll be fine once i crack on with it tho. Year at CTC sounds a bloody long time tho?!
