Sorry to pester you both but i noticed from past threads you have been selected for pilots.

Im wanting to go for it as well but i have a couple of questions to ask if you dont mind.

I have never been a member of the ATC or had past flying experience- will this harm my chances do you think? Were you two and most of the other hopefuls past members? And will not having a degree harm my chances and what sort of ages are the people wanting to be pilot?

Thanks for any help! :D

well i am still in atc, not much flying experience really. If you are not a member of a squadron you will have to demonstrate that you have been doing other things with your spare time ie sports clubs etc. How old are you? At the end of the day you don't need a history degree to fly but sometimes people get told to go and get a degree if they are not deemed to be mature enough for example.

I'm 19 and like to think im mature but maybe others wont . Seriously though ive had a full time job for the last 18 months that has made a big difference to me. I'm worried about being told to go to uni because ive tried it once and totally hated it to be honest!

Sorry I haven't replied earlier but I’ve been away.

As rawli said you don't need to have been a member of the ATC but you will have to demonstrate that you fill your time constructively like keeping active getting involved with voluntary work or things like that. They just want to know that you don't sit on your arse and do sod all when you're free.

You don't need flying experience because whether you have any or not you go through exactly the same training if you are selected so you shouldn't be disadvantaged.

You said you tried uni and hated it you must be prepared for some harsh questioning about the exact reasons for you leaving uni because they will try and get you to imply that you aren't committed.

Thanks for that.

For the last few years ive been involved in community work and for the last few months ive been driving old wifeys to their hospital appointments, so hopefully it will look good.

I was worried about the commitment issue

You seem to have a good shot with what you have but you must make sure you prepare very well for the questions they are going to ask you about uni.
