hi guys
Does anyone have any tips regarding keeping your mind active while running? Where i run, through country lanes, the undergrowth is so thick there is very little to look at and the runs become very, very boring, which of course could lead to me giving up on them. I would take my mp3 player, but as you don't get those in your army kit I'd rarther have something else so the runs in basic aren't as bad as they could be.
Cheers

that's your favourite!
One word wrong!! Bit harse MM don't you think? I have seen some post's on here that I couldn't read let alone check the spelling
As for things to do whilst running, singing in my head usually worked for me, or changing pace when runing. Set a target in the distance, fence post, bush, tree anything then up your pace until you get to said opbject then pick another target and jog. Good stamina training and breaks the run up..

OR you could use your mind.
Check the last vehicle to pass the other way, description/make, what was the reg plate, who/what was driving, description.
Try it, it takes your mind off what your body is doing, and it would have helped answer the questions of a former CO of the Commando Training Centre, whose favourite ploy was to join in on 9 milers and ask such questions.

You should talk to somebody who gives a f**k.

I know the feeling, the only place i can run is along the canal.
It gets to a point where you keep running, but seems like you haven't moved at all. However i still managed to run 8 miles up to Birmingham.
But this was last year...i have never tried it again!!!!
What kept me going was the satisfaction of hopefully getting into the regiment by trying as hard as i could. Forget times, just do it.

MikeB wrote:i find singing football songs as im running helps relieve boredom, or just anyold song really. Oh, and shouting things at people you run past e.g "MORNING LOVE" helps keep yourself amused! (you will get some funny looks)

If you take your mind off the pain and concentrate on other thoguhts time will fly....MAKE SURE YOURE LOOKING WHERE YOUR GOING THOUGH.
I had a bad experiece with a bush........
