How are you doing?

Post by Bruce McDonald »

Just a post to see how everyones training is coming along. I know its not the max, but I just broke the 50 pushups in barrier, so im fairly pleased. How are the rest of you going then?

ive badly strained the tendons in my knee prior to PRMC so i havent done much since passing starting again now...4 mile in 25+ heat along the beach!

best run ive ever had was loverly! sea breeze cooling down, top off, tan, n running

press ups - pleased with...easily reaching 60 now...
sit ups - never done any anyways unless in circuit training
pull ups did 16 3 quater ones when baby sitting on a ladder can get 9-10 full ones on a good day

cheers, davo

Here's what I'm doing right now:

75 pressups in 2 min.
65 situps in 2 min.
9 pullups

1.5 min in 8.52
3 mile in 22.00
6 mile in 48.59 (wink)

I think my pressups and such are okay, I just need to get my 3 miler down a little bit.

Cheers, Brent

Been off the running for 2 weeks through a back injury  hoping to go again on Friday, only got 3 weeks till basic now so I hope I haven't lost any fitness. So much for running through the pain, felt a slight pain in my lower back/backside but it went away after 1 mile but as soon as I started to walk after finishing i get a big pain on the left side. So Sunday comes along still sore but I think its only pain so carried on and made it worse so ive been out for 2 weeks but ive been swimming, cycling and cross training. Very fustrating not being able to run with only a few weeks till basic but im not risking coming back too soon so giving it a few more days. Wish me luck.

Really having trouble with the press-ups and pull-ups. I haven’t been able to run properly for the past 10 days due to something painful in my left shin :o so I’ve been using the cross trainer with the bike and swimming.

Cross training machine is great, I burnt 612 calories in 35 minutes

I can now run nearly 2 miles ata steady pace without puking!!!! I have lost 2 and a bit stone also. Thanks for the advice. If only I was 5 years younger I might well keep it up and join the RM's!!!!!!

I hurt my knee last night, tripped and fell, still swollen this morning. How long should I rest it?

Cheers

I always give any injuries at least two weeks rest. I have found that if I try to go back sooner then the injury will flare up again and I will have to rest all over again.

I don't know about the rest of you but for me waiting out on an injury if one of the most frustrating things.

Don't rush it and you will be fine. For your first outing after resting it is a good idea use a treadmill.

Press Ups: 77
Sit Ups: Not sure, around 90
Pull Ups: 12 with 2 second rest at top and bottom
3miles: No idea anymore because of a reoccuring shin problem.

Ive decided that im just going to stop running completely for a couple of months and get out and do alot of cycling. Im only 19 so time is on my side. By the time that I do finally get around to applying, my gym test scores are going to be pretty damn good :o
