I'm Week 9 Basic training this is what its like.

There are no quilts for u to use, no yellow or red cards - ur locker gets trashed most days and ur face gets screamed into - gives u sumat to laugh about later, ur working day starts at 06.00 when u go for breakfast come back have inspections then at 07.00 go for lessons on all sorts -NBC, first aid everything ur day is fully packed u dont get anytime at all to think really so uve got to make loads of notes. at about 6.00 u return to ur block, iron all ur kit until about 9.00, have some time on the fone etc, go to spar shop whatever til 9.30 then crack on with the block jobs until 11.00, at 11.00 u get bed checked by an NCO where u must be in bed by - if uve got anything to do u get back up once theyve gone usually u just write ur best book up from ur notes to be checked later u shud get to sleep for about 12.00, get up at 04.30 next day, do sum of the block jobs go for breakfast, get inspected, go to lessons, finish, iron. its like a merry go round and if someone had told me the above i wud have been sh*tting myself but the time flys by, u have a good laugh wi ur m8s when ironing - id neva lifted an iron in my life and it dunt take long to get that up to scratch. as for weekends for the first 6 weeks u work upto saturday 12.00 then have rest off inc sunday however its not sit back time its ironing, block jobs etcat the 6 week point u pass off the square in the drill test, and also have the dreaded inspections by the top ranks, this is when u really do have to pull ur finger, on these inspections i was workin until 3ish, going to bed for an hour and gettin up to continue, u sleep on the floor becos ur bed took u 3hrs to make and iron into the perfect square but at the end u get ur long week end home. after week 6 its a lot better for me its gone faster than ever because u also get the weekends to go down town u still need to do ur ironing but u can go to the pub or whateva - week 7 exercise halfway for a week very good cos it was warm even tho u get bugged out after 1hrs broken sleep!! this week just gone ive been on adventure training which is a relaxed chillout week mountainbiking, hillwalking, drinking, kayaking allsorts - very good!! tommorow i go to longmore barracks for range week - night shoots, NBC shoots 100,200,300 metre shoots, after that its the week 10 drill test, after that its exercise final fling for a week then after that its week 12 - passoff week, i get 10 days off then im goin to chichester to do my copper training which luks fukin ace. so allthough theys a lot of discipline, a lot of bollockin, marching, tabbing allsorts or crap they throw at u but u make sum good m8s - many betta than the 1s uve known for years on civvy street. To put it another way i'd reccommend it to my younger brother so its cant be that bad so look forward to it!!
Going in RMP Winchester 19th April cant f**kin wait!!!!

Wouldn't have thought it then, but I wish i was back there now!

glad to hear the rumours i heard are untrue (red cards etc...) and that you are getting a really good "education" in army type stuff!

the hard parts over, you'll look back in the next few years and say " it wasn't that bad, good laff and remember when cpl so-n-so chucked all our kit into the tree outside the window before turning a fire hose on it?" Fantastic!! :P

although, ironing your bed etc.. I remember that.. somewhere between awake and asleep at 0300hrs... maybe i'm a bit better off now..... wouldn't mind the physical side of it though. need it after approx 10,000 pints too many. :drinking: :drinking: :drinking: :drinking:

crack on, do your best, gotta go there's my pizza been delivered! ha ha. :D

There are no quilts for u to use,
I read that far, was thoroughly appalled that you would be expected to survive under those conditions and wrote to my MP complaining of injustice and contravention of our fishing waters!
You should talk to somebody who gives a f**k.

Kiss me Goodnight Sergeant Major,
Tuck me in my little wooden bed
We all love you Sergeant Major
When we hear you bawling 'Show a leg'
Dont forget to wake me in the morning
And bring me round a nice hot cup of tea
Kiss me Goodnight Sergeant Major
Sergeant Major be a mother to me!

Gob smacked........no quilts sob , sob, wait till you go on OP`s ,you`ll work your bollocks off and as far as the card`s what a joke those were as it gave you lads the perfect chance to screw the training staff and have them interviewed by the OC , little snots would try to get one over on experienced Staff at every chance, they would rummage in their pockets and produce a card.....ef me and your still in or have you wised up and left yet ........I think you made the wrong career move here lad .
