Fighting Scared

Just reading through my first military book ever.
Im 18 and vowed never to do this.
I purchased it because of the writers first hand experience with the parachute regiment.
I still want to join the regiment....but i was shocked at what i was reading bullying for no reason and regular beatings!!!!!!
Has anyone else read this?
I could be a pack of lies i know.....im not stupid, i dont swallow everything i read.
I hope it bullying doesnt occur within the regiment because it is a great regiment.
Ive never really been bullied, buti get a feeling that i will be an easy target....oh well cest la vie.

I was reprimanded once because one of my Cpl's made a recruit do pressups in a puddle. Would you call that bullying?

Nope i wouldnt call that bullying....sounds like an average day for me.

The book is fighting scared.
The bullying im talkin of involves fellow paratroopers hospitalising each other for no real reason...apart from drunkness and the fact that they get pissed off easily.

There was an icident in the Dutch Navy about 15 years ago when a guy was regularly taken up the arse by his "mates". Well, we always knew the Navy was full of fags, right? The thing is this sort of stuff happens sometimes, and that's not just in the military.

Most of the stuff he endured in junior leaders and the parachute regiment
Just doesnt go on anymore (beatings).

No, ofcourse not! They were regular Navy. That was back in the days when there was still national service in this country.

Fighting Scared, Decent book. Its good that the cases such as in the book do not occur to that extent any more appart from in extreeme casses but if you arent willing to with stand such incident then id advise you think about it before you join.
