potential problem.

Post by greenmachine »

I am new to these forums, so hello.

I have wanted to join the marines for a long time now, i have the drive, i have the ambition and i am at a good level of fitness. (have been training for a while now). There is one thing holding me back.

I am self concious, and i have acne on my back. It isn't really bad anymore, that has more or less passed, it is all the red spots and brown marks from old acne that bothers me, and the fact i will have to get my top off around the lads. What advice do you all have? As this is holding me back from my dream, as i know i would get ripped from the lads.

:( :( :( :( :(

Another lad posted something a little similar to this yesterday I think. Yes you will get ribbed, but only in a friendly off-hand way; everyone gets it for something or other, the fact that yours is obvious is maybe a good thing in that you won't get anything embarassing dragged up!! You're all there for the same reason, with the same goal, you'll just get a little of the bootneck humour thrown your way.

Aye, I second what arameis says. In the military people are always taking the piss and they will ALWAYS find something no matter how perfect you are, just give it back as good as you get it and you'll be just fine. You can get creams and medication if it really is a problem, but i'd say just go for it.

The vast majority of the lads joining up will be between 18-24. You think you are the only one with a pizza back?

Don't worry mate.

Mate you'll find several "things" get rid of acne

First off a regular sex life ( safe sex of course ) will drive off all those little hormones

Second , regular exersise

Third , not laying in your pit all day being a sweaty little nob jockey

and think about it , if the marines were advertised looking all ugly and spotty no one would join up so it follows that the guys in the recruiting posters are all big fit buggers with square manly chins and fists like anvils

What's wrong with big ears? I've not had any problems, well unless I'm trying to get through narrow spaces, maybe I should invest in a stapler that'll keep 'em out of the way! :D

Green, the first couple of days you spend with the lads will be the worst but you'll soon get used to it, especially because you know you have to.

oh, do you get to bring and use your own skin care products if you get in? Obviously you would only be able to use them when not out on fieldcraft etc.. but none the less??

thanks

Wingnut !!! :P :D

That was my nickname, alongside crazy legs, in my clubbing days that is. I used to think it was funny till i saw a video of me dancing (tape taken of birds birthday party).

I never danced again.

oh and staplers dont work, cos they rust and u eventually get septacimia and before you know it your getting called 'mark brandon read' or 'chopper' and women look at you in a kind of 'oh thats minging' kind of way.

Yes!! Bring whatever you want. Moisteriser, lip balm , it's all good and needed since your skin will be at the whim of the environment alot of the time. That was my reasoning anyway. :D

greenmachine;

I seen something on the news a week or two ago that doctors have found a virus that kills acne without actually harming body cells. Anyone else see that?
you gotta search within you, you gotta find that inner strength, and just pull that shit out of you, and get that motivation to not give up, and not be a quitter no matter how bad you wanna fall flat on your face
