Bootnecks are a funny lot, all made from the same mould.
If I was to sum up Royal It would be bloody mindedness, with a reserved self confidence.

If you are not what they are looking for then it’s not a slur on your character, its not all about fitness either, you can be as fit as you like, but Royal wants to see a different kind of fitness…..

As I said if they don’t want you it does nt mean you are useless, it just means you would be more suited to another services or civvie street. There is a definate type of man who makes it as a Royal Marine, they are no better or worse than the man they stand next to in the pub, but they are quite different and few and far between.

Royal are good at what they do, and they only accept those they consider good enough to last their course but they do not hold a monopoly on being professional.

"The Making of A Royal Marines Commando"
Brilliant book by Nigel Foster, which should be in any aspiring Royal Marines Collection.

Quote from the book, which I think sums it up quite well….
"Wanting is not enough; wanting does not entitle you to try; only your own ability and real commitment can do that".

There is life outside the Royal Marines which is just a fulfilling.

Just another perspective for you.....
Good luck with whatever you do...

Wel for starters ya shudn't b thinkin like dat, it shud b: "If IO fail I'm going to try again".
But if ya stil cnt get in, wot about goint to ATR (army training regt) and den goin for 59 Independent Comando Engineers or 29 Royal Artillery Comandos. Both of which very gd, and u still do light infantry duties with both. Go to tyhe Marines website for more details.

What about an English class?

That would be a start.

Well, if you can take the time to type a post out. Then it won't hurt to proof read it and make sure there's no text speak in it. It saves you looking silly, and makes it easier for the cavem- I mean, old and bold to read.

Well if the Marines are full of people like you two then I'll join the Army. Thanks for helping me decide.

Water off a ducks back Flash. They're just saying it's hard to read posts like that, that's all. Personally I couldn't give a crap how anyone words their posts on the forum, but i'm not a mod, and I like a reading challenge. :D

So do it right!!!!!
You may be disappointed if you fail,
but you are doomed if you don’t try.
