When I was in 23 we were issued with the silenced version of the Sterling SMG.
But any plan that relies on 'silenly' killing sentries seems to be a TV script rather than a real life scenario. Personally if I was to 'take out' a sentry I would prefer a GPMG just to make sure.

Obviously as a last resort if you had nothing but your knife to defend yourself with, then surely its better you know at least a few basic moves with it rather than not knowing anything at all??chunky from york wrote:PS
URNU why would you want to stab your "OPPO" ??????
At that rate you won't have many friends![]()

Fighting knives?? Gentlemen please...................
utter pants post if you ask me. Using a fighting knife to open tins? In my experience you can rarely open ratpacks without cutting yourself first and you only have 8 fingers and 2 thumbs to practise with before you're buggered. Far better to walk 100 meters and ask Andy to line up a tube......
Aye.

Just because I look stupid doesn't mean to say that I'm not.
There's something about that that's just so funny...Andy O'Pray wrote:Being an ex mortarman my experience of close quarter combat was anything from 100 to 6,500 metres. The farther away the better. I probably bombed the shit out of guys with knives.
I think I mentioned somewhere else that some guy showed me how to chuck knives; whilst it's easy to get them to stick into something (and they do seem to go in harder than if you just tried stabbing them), it's nearly impossible to aim the buggers. Plus you have to do it from a set distance. I spent several months trying to throw I'M A SCAMMER SPAMMER!!! knives at drawings but if I ever hit them it was accidental. Your target really has to be about a metre square! The sentry would be standing there wondering why all these vegetable knives kept spinning past him into the bushes and hearing some voice behind him going 'sh*t! Ok, this time...'
Ach, I was just being resourceful. Might not have the real deal when I'm rolling round in the bushes, trying to dodge the park warden. I met a lunatic once who claimed he was in a German knife-throwing cult that carried their knives round in briefcases and threw them through hoops. He saids it was illegal pretty much everywhere. He was a black American/Syrian/German and his bald head was cracked like crazy paving where someone had bashed him with a maglite. I remember frowning and scratching my head a lot during that conversation.

I ain't sure but I think the SAS are taught Aikido, which is a very modern Jap fighting art. That is all, I know and also can't get taught it any where in Britain. I got a Carbon steel dagger it is US Marine but it is crap it is rusting in my box. SAS probably get the Spetsnaz style knife or something some flewible titanium multipurpose knife.THrow it all in the bin! knives are crap, gimme the Gurkha Kukhri knife!

Me uncle does Aikido in the UK?

Do the gaurds still get issued with the commando daggers? My Granddad was in the coldstream guards a while back (fought in egypt as a sniper) and he has one, black blade 'n all, really nice to hold, balanced and what not. Do they still get kitted out with them or have they more or less stopped?
Cheers
