Uh oh, I will have only done 5 field weekends when i go to Lympston, I had to miss the last one becuase of illness... I'll just have to put in the work, i'm fairly squared away with most of it, my map reading isn't bad but i could use some more practice on NavEx's. Phys is a little dodgy as i have missed a bit lately for a number of reasons. Had a wake up call last night at the Det, got a new PTI who gave us a bottom field style sesh and it was the worst bit of phys i've had in a long time, i was hanging out! But its good to have a sesh like that, keeps me on my toes and training properly.

From what i no of my local TA Infantry regiment (3rd Bat PWRR) training is around 5 or 6 weekends minimum and a 2 week CIC (Combat Infantry Course) at Caterick. After this the recruit is then Badged and hatted as an qualified Infantryman.
Seems like the RMR have a set guide to follow. 3rd Bat PWRR, ok they do 5 weekends Phase1. We do 8 weekends Phase1, bit of a difference there. Different units - different training. Between going to CIC you undertake training within the Company although you haven't completed CIC yet, you do alot of refresher training whilst waiting for a CIC slot for you. You got the CIC bit correct but after CIC your training doesn't stop.

Perhaps if you knew anything about what we do/did then you might have been able to contribute more than that lame comment. All i was doing was making it clear for this bloke that there are options closer than Tyne.

Nice trick. Your right tho you'll have no trouble with PRC if you passed PRMC already. As i've said earlier the real hard work starts when u get into recruit training... 8)

Good luck!

I'm with the rifle companies down on stockton road, still a recruit. Coubly newham's the Mortar platoon isn't it. Suppose after a few years of doing the same thing i'd want a change too. Anyway mark if you have time check out www.reserveforces.co.uk . We have an RMR section and theres a few recruits there that can give advice etc.

Bloody hell Rab - that's a nice easy kit issue weekend + 11 thrashings ? - I'll bet you pissed the 1A

I'm sure there was only about 12'ish weekends for the whole course when I was last in, then again, recruit training was only 10 months compared to the 14 you have now

Chester, Having joined in September last year, and our RFCC in July, we only do 10 months aswell. Just that we enjoy it that much we get extra phys!!

Rabby, I hope your not joking about enjoying it that much becuase your gonna have to work hard to get the weekends and the training in to do a July RFCC. We've been told the earliest course is 1st Oct and that July wasn't on !?
Good luck tho and it'll be cool if you can get it cracked by then. Should mean you'll be able to catch the Phase 2 courses that (I think) run in/around September time, that means you'll be fully qualified by Chrimbo! 8)
Damn i wish i was in your shoes.
