i doubt i'll be joining up anymore since i wouldn't want to leave my girlfriend for any length of time...the main reason being is because she was crying and telling me that she needs me so much and wouldnt know what to do without me  so i aint going in there because of her.

Dude, you can always write and text and email and stuff. Just think how happy she will be to see you when you do come home!

I've got a similar problem my missus says she'll finish with me if I get in but I look at it like this, you only get until you're 26 to get in the Marines you've got the rest of your life to meet a bird, and if they really love you that much it shouldn't matter if you live next door or two hundred miles away there's no reason you can't stay together, I know a couple of lads who are in and have either girlfirends or wives and they don't have this problem, no offence chief cos it's obvious you love her a lot but tell her to grow up or knob off and I think I can guess which she'll do (hopefully grow up but women are like horses good fun to ride but f@#k unpredictable)

synrg :o if you stay with this girl for the rest of your life have kids a nice house etc then fine, but really what are the chances of that??? And when you hit 40 you'll still sit there at what ever you’re doing and wonder what it would of been like...

I wouldn't let your girlfriend hold you back mate. You will regret it for the rest of your life. But the choice is yours....

but what if i didnt come home and im bleeding to death 10.000 miles away in a country i cant even find on the map , she would probably kill herself if i...died, she really does love me and im all that means anything to her and for some reason i can see us in 40 years time with kids, a nice house and a car, good job etc, grankids on the way too

ive alot of thinking to do...

You need to have your head clear bud because if not and you get to lympstone they can send you home because of emotional instablity, when they asked me at the AFCO if I had a grilfriend and I said yes they warned me that I need to "manage the situation" before I get into basic otherwise it can have a serious effect, you can imagine if you're being hammered mentally and physically all the time the last thing you need to be doing is wondering wether ya still want to be with ya girlfriend or not, it's gonna be hard for me I know that but if she can't handle me going, then I only see one resolution.

Just a thought synrg, if you don't join up and stay with your girlfriend. You might end up resenting her for it, just a thought.

Good luck with what ever you decideto do.

Well I'm an ugly barsteward so I don't have that problem :D if I did I'd have a good long chat about it with her, but like Jason said it could be worse for you both if you end up regreting not going for it. If she realy does love you she'll understand.
