The Army & SUPPLEMENTS
The Army & SUPPLEMENTS
Hi,Iam 17 years old and have just started taking legal supplements such as creatine, tribulus terrestris, protein milkshakes and will probably started taking 'cyclone' which is also a legal product in the near future. Obviously the army would dissaprove of illegal steroids etc but is the army in favour of these sorts of supplements (particularly the paras);and what is their policy on them?????????

To be completly honest they would probably say you were a pussy and that you could not hack doing the sort of training that people were doing for the paras or similar regts who were not using these supplements.
Some people say that they work, and others don't. I personally believe (with the support of my GP) that they are do not have any effect and are a waste of money.
Stick to anaerobic training mate it will do you a whole lot better in the long run (sorry for the pun). If you were in a military camp with a British unit and a Yank unit, you would find the yanks going to the gym for their training, and the British running around the perimiter of the camp for theirs.

They do work but only for certain body types so its a game of chance to see if your body will adapt and use them, however if you need them and cant train and get fit without them then dont bother joining because you cant say to your NCO's before you train "hang on a mo i havent had my protein shake"
dotn bother with them
dotn bother with them

The general consensus seems to be that supplements can aid efficiency in reaching fitness goals more quickly, as you can work harder and get slightly more gains from training. But once in the forces, they're pretty much a non starter as mentioned above. And if you've got time to attain the fitness you need doing things the old fashioned way, I don't think you'd lose out by leaving them alone and saving the money

To be honest l have taken creatine before and l must say it works and works quite well. But like all these supplements once you stop taking them you lose quite a lot of the benefits it gave you and all it seems to do is knock your confidence and set you back in training. So unless you want to live on supplements for the rest of your life (Not even considering the possible damage being caused to your Kidneys and liver) train naturally and if you are going to take something take protein as this just aids in the muscle building process and these gains cannot be taken away from you.
Creatine helps the muscles with their absorption of water and as such allows the muscle to work that bit harder therefore more effiecient training. Its ideal for putting on muscle/weight in a short period of time. The protein shakes are ideal when put in the blender with some other concoction. In truth however the ideal scenario is to troff your face and eat small but often through the day, the protein shakes are just an addition not a replacement for food.Alot of them are 'gimicky' and expensive. All I do is buy carb/protein mixes such as cassalan or build up. They are alot cheaper and just as good. Bung them in a blender with some oats and fruit and you have a liquified meal! I take creatine simply because it works very well from a strength training point of view. I down a carb/protein drink about 1 hour before and straight after training just to make sure my body dosnt run down. Having said that I make sure I troff my face and drink lots of water too about 2litres does me fine.

simple but effective!
well when im hittin the gym hard i take quite a few supplements to ensure my body is gettin what it needs. protein is a must and a good vitamin pak is also very beneficial. but whatever im on wether it be nothin or a mix of supplements i just follow one simple rule.
If you wanna get BIG, you gotta eat BIG!
and ive found no matter how much im hittin the gym, as long as i keep doin my cardio along with it, the added weight doesnt affect me at all.
Happy Training

most of the supplements on the market do actuall work and your body doesnt become dependant on them thats complete rubbish.. admitibly steroids have that effect but protien shakes and creatine supplements just give your body extra from what there already creating natually..
Listen in men give 100% or i will thrash you till your eyes bleed!
