best private kit purchase (before or during training)?

Post by vincenzo »

Hi fellas,

what do you think the most useful items of kit are to buy b4 going to training?

(and which are allowed to be used )

anything from a superduper steam iron to boots, or sleeping system to padlocks for lockers.

what made your life easier in the field, and what made it easier in the barracks?

opinions from those in training, or serving trained strength or ex-serving please, not schoolboy walters(no offence)

oh yes and a reason for using the kit?

please no suggestions on rambo knives etc , or special issue fighting order etc which might be allowed in units but not in training. thrust of post is making life easier for nod/recruit.

thanks.

no need for the sarcasm, mate.

i did use the grand search facility, and could not find the answers to my questions.

i always search for an item b4 i make a post as i know its irritating, and so far ive posted on few topics and none that i know theres an answer to beforehand

sorry, i may be thick(err i dont think so, but possible), or the information is well hidden in irrelevantly titled or very very old threads, or im using the wrong search parameters

but really no need to bite my head off, even if you have seen something posted a thousand times just like the sas vs sbs, rm vs para reg crap we all see every other day.

im just trying to find some information to help me during training which is 4 weeks away.

ta very much.

Best bit of kit I ever bought was a schemagh (oneof those arab head towel thingies) has a few uses but I dont know if they will allow you that in training but given that when I used it whilst on stag nobody usually sees me use it anyhow

17/11.

not lympstone, winchester, so yes ive gone perce but am decidedly doing something ill be interested in and fairly good at.

posted in this forum as royals that i know(altho quite ancient) tend to be a lot more knowledgeable than your average bear(as yogi might say)

and frankly didnt want the kak from wannabe daydreamers found elsewhere.

good luck with the course.

:D :D
And the first reply was...
Do a search on 'KIT'... Dan had more than enough answers to this one! There is a nice long list of MUST have, SHOULD have and NICE TO have things... try this:
viewtopic.php?p=43893&highlight=#43893
Telling people to search doesnt work because by the time they are told...they've just posted a thread!

Why doesnt someone make a Sticky (so people see it first) like the "personal Details" one which will go through all the forums rooms and say somthing like "Using the Search function" or somthing alot the lines of that and just put brief details. It might work, worth a trial?
