How hard is the PJFT?

Post by scORCHing »

I'm not exactly in great shape and am not very fit so how do you think the 1 1/2 mile in 12 mins 20 secs will go for me?

Alright mate,

I took the test last week. I'm not particularly fit but I managed to run the 1.5 miles in 9:15.
I had to do it within 12:48 (being an old geezer) even still it wasn't that hard.
You have to run on a treadmill which is much easier than normal running. Don't worry about it mate, you'll be alright!

Chris, how long did it take you about from when you asked to join up to when you got to raleigh? I applied as officer but now im doubting that im gonna pass the AIB so was wondering if it would be quicker to switch to rating or try the AIB a few times

Thanks

Hi Dave

I applied about 6 months ago and I've been told I'm going to Raleigh on the 23rd Nov.
I'm not sure how long it wil take now, I was told my aplication took so long because of the war (the MOD admin people were busy...)

At what kind of pace was you running?

There was a gym instructor assesing me. He said that I should try and run at level 15, although this was to allow alot of extra time.
Level 15 was pretty fast and I ran at that pace for a few minutes then dropped down to about 11/12. At 9:15 he stopped me as I had covered the distance.
But as I said earlier, I found it much easier to make the pace on a treadmill than I would've otherwise.

12 mins 20 will get you a lot of extra PT mate and believe me that is the last thing you want. If you fail any running or fitness tests they can backclass you. Assuming you are under twenty five 11 mins 13 secs is more than attainable you just need to want it badly enough.

The PT you do down there is not a sintensive as you might htink and if you have to give up your valuable free time to go and do remedials not only will you be kanckered all the time but you will be looking at falling behind in your class work and personal admin! BAD JUJU!!!!!

(As it sounds) If you want it bad enough pull yon finger out of butt and get running a mile and a half every day. You have said yourself that it takes less than a quarter of an hour so there is no excuse you have four weeks and believe me you will benefit!

mmm, i found it easy, but its a pain on a tredmill, coz u cant just go as fast as u want, and u cant see the finish line so u dont sprint the last 100m or w/e no matter how bad it hurts

i got 10min 47 on the tredmil, 9min 5 outside, thats uphill and down aswell.
