Types of ship

Post by Chris_R »

I was wondering if you have any say in the type of ship/submarine you go to after training.

I can apreciate the fact that they have to allocate people as needed, but do you get a chance to give them your preference?

Are there particular types of ship that are harder to get assigned to straight away?

How long do you get assigned to a particular ship/submarine for?

Cheers

yeah, u can give a preference to what type of ship you want to be drafted on. But your trade may limmet your options.
e.g if u are a MEM u are most likly to be put on a frigate or a submarine.. but can can chose other wise

Currently undergoing "streaming" at HMS Collingwood. This is where the navy decide where they need the manpower. If they need you to go submariner you have very little say in the matter.
Reference what ships: MEM's can serve on anything. Aircrew will be dependant on their squadron and Weapons/warfare wherever they need you at the time.
