Press-up maximums

Post by bassboyluke »

hiya again, in true bassboyluke style i'm gonna do a poll to 'learn about the people.' remember it's completely confidential so don't lie!!! and if anyone can be arsed, write a poll for sit-ups and pull-ups. i hope these polls don't miff anyone off.
pain is your ally; it lets you know you're still alive!!!

I put down 36-40 but ive been injured for a while and my uperbody strength has gone down. Most ive ever been able to do is about 80 (dont attempt it if you plan to play golf a couple of hours later like I did).

There not really that hard. Best thing to do is think positive, dont be shy to moan out loud and dont stop whatever you do! If you stop, the pain will not go while you are still in the press up position, so you may as well keep on going and try to ignore the pain. Stopping only makes you waste your energy and think about the pain! The worst thing is when your arms turn to jelly and start shaking like mad.

Can anyone do one arm pressups or press ups with a clap? (too scared to try incase I land on my face)

Word of warning DON'T egnore the pain if it feels like someones stabbing you in the side... I did and I ended up having to spend two months sitting on my arse watching the grass grow. :(

I can't do the one arm one's, those are just too hard. However the clapping ones are good, can do quite a few of them. What I did do was challenge a mate to try and clap twice at the top of each press up, the first one he tried he fell and broke his nose!! :D :P  .
I thought it was great, he didn't feel the same way mind and the next day the aire in my bike tyres had gone.

I can do 17 pressups with a clap. As for one armed pressups, these mystify me completely, i cant even stay in the pressup position using one arm, I cant balance.
you gotta search within you, you gotta find that inner strength, and just pull that shit out of you, and get that motivation to not give up, and not be a quitter no matter how bad you wanna fall flat on your face

re: one arm press ups, I can do ten but i suppose there clessed as civvy style because I think an RM style one armed pressup would be impossible, the physics are all wrong and frankly I'm afraid to try. Might injure my beautiful face :o
PS: These press-ups really hurt your man boobs
PPS; Trust me I'm a doctor, these press-ups are silly

When you attempt one arm pressups, to balance you have to have your feet quite wide apart. This will keep you balanced..in theory! :D

I am improving my pressup max by doing lots everyday :D :D

Best thing you can do is mix your press/push -ups wide arm/clap or military. your upper body This will work out your upper body using using different mucles. parallel dips are a god exrtra! Remember using opposing muscle groups whilst exercisind stops injuries to a certain extent!

Can't even do it with out clapping, what's the point of one armed press ups, if you had one arm then ok, but if you have 2. Image Image
