Post by sonic »

Do members of the parachute regiment get trained in close quarters combat?
Also are different battalions trained to do different tasks, if so what are they?
I have looked on the parachute regiment site but it isnt much of a help.
Any help would be great cheers 8)

Every British infantry soldier, not just the paras, are trained in close quarters battle. This is mainly taught on the Combat Infatrymans Course at Catterick in the form of bayonet fighting. You need to remember that the only real difference between normal infantry regiments and the Paras is that the Paras are trained to insert by parachute. Apart from that their basic infantry skills are much the same as any other infatry regiment in the British Army.
