It's all about attitude. Go out and enjoy it, don't treat it as a constant punishment, which some people seem to be considering. Life at CTC isn't all about 'Beastings' etc. It's about getting trained to be the best. The course is hard, it's intense, and very tiring, but it can be enjoyable if you laugh at the weather and the terrain.
The endurance course can be hard in the winter, breaking ice on Peters Pool and crawling through tunnels 1/3 deep in freezing rainwater is not funny, but it has it's up side as well. Just can't seem to remember what it was................... Oh yeah, they give you a nice new green hat when you have completed everything.
You should talk to somebody who gives a f**k.

There's a board on the Tarzan Course that gives the fastest times the course has ever been completed in - I always found it very motivational - Trying (Without Success) to complete the course in Superhuman time....

And believe me, when you do it in within the normal time constraints and you are blowing out your arse, you'll wonder how those Nods and YO's on the board managed to do it in Superhuman fashion ;)

I can't wait to get stuck into these either.. (i might change my mind when im in the freezing water but hey.. its all fun  ).

I really want to have a go on a proper assault course before PRMC to see how hard I can push myself but I guess thats what the PRMC and recruit training are for :)

Would anyone that's done their PRMC be able to describe the assault course down at CTC?

I'm so happy, I've finally earned the right to wear my third bullet. I feel as if I've achived something very special now 8)

Yo the assult course is diffferent to any other standard army assult course!
It is spread out more with a small hill which actually turns into a very big when your are doing it! The actual assult course is not that hard its the warm up(BEASTING) you get before which makes it hard! They want people who can put maximum effort ino the warm up but then still perform on the assult course!

It consists of a:
TANK TRAP (a hole filled with water you have to jump over)

SIX FOOT WALL

FALLEN GATE(just a metal frame which u walk up and over)

CRAWLING THING(cant remeber its proper name but its the one you crawl under, it takes it out of you because of the excessive amounts of shingle!)

MONKEY BARS

WALL (climb up a ladder walk along a wall, jog along another, then sprint over the last and jump over the barbed wire)

CHASM (a climbing frame with a rope that you pull yourself along)

SWINGING BRIDGE

5 FOOT WALL

HILL

GATE VOLT(a frame you do what called a gate volt on)

TUNNELS

12 FOOT WALL

SPRINT TO END
thats it! EASY said sarcastically! JUST KEEP SMILING :fadein:
PASSED PRMC 4JULY!
START TRAINING 28TH JULY!
DAM THOSE PRESS UPS ARE HARD!
IT IS ONLY PAIN 500M TO GO, what a great sign!

AK

"The Scramble Nets" is what you are thinking of, hence the usual order from the PTI's "UNDERTHESCRAMBLENETSBACKTOME GOOOOO!"

I beg to differ, the sour old duffer that I am. I don't want to put anyone off though, the feeling when you march off the drill square "Royal Marines to your duties, quick march" is indescribable and will inspire you for the rest of your life. Good luck all.

I get goosepimples even now, just thinking of that last drill command and i'm nothing but a wannabe as yet!
With referance to the endurance/tarzan courses, looks nothing but fun (and a few technicolour yawns! )
Waiting around until i can go back to Lympstone.

Hmm...I'm with Sully on this one. Have the sands of time blunted the memories?? :D For me, they are very raw and very real!

Glad they're keeping you on your toes Dan - after all, the Devil will find work for idle hands

I hear Hawkerland is nice this time of year - watch out for those adders though :o

Talking of adders...............playing golf yesterday and one of the guys was bitten on his forearm by an adder. He put his hand into a bush to retrieve his ball, which was unplayable, and zap, snakebite. He carried on playing despite advice he should get it treated. Additionally somebody else got a hole in one, so a good time in the bar afterwards :D

Who said life as a civvy was boring.
