Not quite a war for oil
At the moment people are protesting all over the world about no war. And one of the major explanations these people use for the war being held, is that it is over oil, but i dont how they yet haven't figured out that, with the budget being spent on the war, Bush, Blair and Howard could have bought all the oil they wanted. And also, only 4% of americas oil is supplied from Iraq, so apart from the trading route value, why the hell would they be attacking Iraq to get oil that the Iraqis are going to burn, whilst america attacks anyway.
I've argued exactly that point, with the added line on who uses that as a reason for this war.Its the gobs from the socialist workers party, the communists and other lefties who have a hatred of the U.S.of A.,and the gullible idiots who listen to them.G.B. may have a hidden agenda, but it aint oil.
Aye Owdun.
Aye Owdun.

Im sick of hearing this argument from friends and relatives, bloody Daily Mirror readers. Its just anti Americanism and since they have no other way to condemn the conflict they claim this oil argument (cos the Mirror printed it). I agree there may be some underlying motive, but it certainly isn't oil...
Sand Perhaps?

Oil.
This oil argument is not only wrong, I think its completely beyond the pale of logic.
1. If we wanted oil so bad we would have just taken it during the first gulf war.
2. If we wanted oil so bad all we would have to do is end our friendship with Israel which has no oil. The arab world would be so pleased we would probably get free oil for the next 20 years.
3. Bush himself is actively looking into new methods of power. In his last state of the union address he paid some lip service to it, the fact of the matter is that once Japan starts making non gasoline cars as the norm we wont have any other choice. This fact is not lost on the U.S. In fact it may be welcomed, while the U.S. does make alot off of oil, the loss of such revenues will hit countries like Russia and Suadi Arabia so badly it will cripple them. May not be so bad from a strategic standpoint.
Today I watched a protest in Beiging China with thousands of Chinese students standing not too far from where they were massacred for protesting their own goverment. They burned American flags and effigies of Bush etc. etc. This from a country that has never performed a single humane gesture in their existence. If they want to talk about aggression they need look no further than the republics treatment of its own neighbors. With one hand around Tibets throat and the other holding a poster board peace sign they chanted "no blood for oil". What about no blood for yaks piss? Grrrrrr. The world is upside down.

Lets get this right!
Its not about oil,its about FREEDOM!
The freedom you and I enjoy when we walk with our loved ones to the shopping mall, the freedom we take for granted every day.
The freedom of not being frightened to mix in a crowd of strangers or friends.
the freedom we enjoy all because we have proud and loyal subjects who volunteer to serve their country with pride and courage.

yes, the world is upside down, back to front, and inside out. but what can you do?
politicians will alway take bribes and sleep with gay men out on the heath, celebrities will always do whatever their manager or agent will tell them to do, and everything bad that happens today will happen again in ten, twenty years time, but a hundred times worse.
god, the world is a big fat crud bucket, really. and then its up to sane people to sort it out, but the sane people are the ones with no power.
lets give the most power in the world to a balding monkey.

As I understand it the yanks are quite happy supplying
arms and munitions to Israel, a nice little earner.
Remember the arms industry is required to keep the big
wheels turning you need a war every 10 years or so to
help generate the economy ?
I guess the fact that the yanks left so much hardware
insitu was a coincidence ? who would have guessed,
the beast would be on ops approx 10yrs down the line,
in the same area of the world ?
Theres a lot of money in the exploitation of other
nations minerals take a look at south America,
(i must admit were as bad.)
Just hope my mate from S.America is wrong, as he
is quite a religous guy, and he reckons its the start of
WW3?
(Revelations) US-THE BEAST, UN the mouthpiece.
If the U.N. worked we would not be at war yet.
I back the lads 100%, its there job and believe me they
are good at it !
Petty I cant say the same about the politicians

The arms to Israel.
If anyone thinks we make one red cent off of Israel they are nuts. The billions in aid which they dont even need, the high tech weaponry which they turn around and sell to countries like China and Myanmar, the fact that still more billions are sent out of this country by "Jewish-Americans" with life time dual citizenship that is granted by birth and furthermore the "loans" set at a friendly 0% which nobody ever imagines being paid back. Israel is many things to the U.S. - Liability, financial drain, security risk and constant cause of tension. Couple this with the fact that in recent years we have caught them actively spying on us (Johnathon Pollard) and what you have is one strange friendship. Many people think that the relationship is because we need them in order to have a military presence in the middle east. This holds no water either because we allready have as many facilities as we could hope to fill in what few Arab allies we have left. No doubt if we turned our back on Israel we could march 100 divisions through down town Beirut or Damascus with a heroes welcome but for some reason it never plays out that way. I am one of those Americans who looks at the relationship with Israel with large scepticism but cant bring myself to wish for it to change. Maybe there is something biblical to it.
As for the theory that we need a war every ten years to boost the economy. I cant deny that entirely (Vietnam comes to mind). Allthough I absolutely dont believe that the U.S. would wage a war just to jolt the economy I think the fact that war has historically done just that, doesnt neccessarily discourage us.

Its just ashame that the US and GB couldnt have spent half of their war budget sorting out world problems, which would help with hearts and minds which would help with....
I support the lads down there, but just cant see the point in this.
The budget for the war and rebuilding Iraq could have come to much better use, like giving US pilots target recognition training....

A while back now in Jebel Akhdar, SAS, RMs and SBS were thrown into an assualt on armed rebels that were trying to seize the Sultan's oil fields (Britain had been an ally of the Sultanate sice 1798). After the British gained control it was discovered that the Americans were surplying the rebels through US oil companies who had discovered vast oil surplies in the Saudi Arabbian deserts. Words from the book Not By Strengh By Gulile are as follows: 'American oil companies were understanably keen to add Oman and Muscat to their area of influance, even though that ment encouraging rebel tribesman to take up arms against British forces'.
After the Britsih government found out the yanks appologised and insured that the practice would cease. Further words from the book: 'an astonishing action perpetrated by oil companies from such a close ally as the United States - quietly forgotten'.
Make u wonder, dont it.
