Exactly the same talk is happening in New Zealand, the difference is that Helen Clark and her evil minions would not only change the flag in a heart-beat, they are quite happy to wipe any positive references to British colonialism altogether.There is a movement, down here, to bin the inclusion of the Union Flag from both the Australian flag and the flags of the various States.
Pretty sad really that people with colonial ancestors feel like and are treated as second class citizens by their own government.

IMMIGRANTS, not Americans and Canadians, MUST ADAPT.
I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Americans and Canadians. However, the dust from the attacks had barely settled when the "politically correct" crowd began complaining about the possibility that our patriotism was offending others. I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to America. Our population is almost entirely comprised of descendants of immigrants. However, there are a few things that those who have recently come to our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand. This idea of America and Canada being a multi-cultural community has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. As Americans and Canadians, we have our own culture, our own society, our own language and our own lifestyle. This culture has been developed over centuries of struggles, trials, and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom. We speak ENGLISH, not Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society, learn the language! "In God We Trust" is our national motto. This is not some Christian, right wing, political slogan. We adopted this motto because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture. If Stars, Stripes and a Maple Leaf offend you, or you don't like Uncle Sam, then you should seriously consider a move to another part of this planet. We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we really don't care how you did things where you came from. These are OUR COUNTRIES, our land, and our lifestyle. Our First Amendment and in Canada, the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, gives every citizen the right to express his or her opinion and we will allow you every opportunity to do so. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about our flags, our pledge, our national motto, or our way of life, I highly encourage you to take advantage of one other great American and Canadian freedom: THE RIGHT TO LEAVE.

Well the flag has changed at least twice in its history I believe and no doubt will continue to do so.
Too many people over history have died over scraps of material and what they represent so I am not getting to worried about it!
If they wish to change anything, perhaps the national anthem could be looked at. After all, there cant be many national songs that mention nothing of the country or it's people but instead sing the praises of just one person!
Besides which I think the tune is a moanfull wailing dirge!
France(!), Canada, Italy, Australia, South Africa,Germany(!), America etc etc etc all have fantastic anthems which everyone enjoys singing. They represent the country AND the people.
Look close to home.....Eire, Scotland and Wales again all have fantastic anthems and what do we have?..........

f@#k THATSo the next crock of shyte campaign to be launched is by a Londoner who wants to change the Union Jack to a Union Black. What he wants is black lines all over it to reflect out multi-cultural nation. He says he wants a flag we can all be proud of. Now for F**K SAKE!! That is just taking it too far.
No way, there seem to be few people out there who seemed not to have there head screwed on. Why should we change a nations flag just to show we are a multi cultured country. Every one in the world knows this, just look at those bloody asylum seekers pouring into our country. We are probably the most multi cultured country in the world.
I am surprised that he did not say that we have just a globe as our nations flag. To show we are not British, English, Scottish, Welsh or Irish but we are the people of the world. ( I hope not muppet out there gets any ideas)
The Union Jack represents a union of countries - England, Ireland, and Scotland and Wales. AND NO OTHER.
An another thing if there are any people not proud of our flag you no where the airports and seaports are. Hope you don crash or sink.

An old mate of mine now lives in Oz. He works for the immigration service. The Ozzys don't mess about. He describes his job as "different" The illegals apparently get sent to some camp in the middle of the bush. And are left there until they beg to be deported back to where they came from!
I reckon we should send all these "nice" PC people and the illegals to some secluded part of Great Britain. Rockall springs to mind. stuck in the middle of the oggin and home to sh*tehawks and naff all else. They could form commitees and pontificate to there hearts content about flags, gay and lesbian rights, racial equality, banning Christmas so as not to offend non Christians, in fact anything the sad little gits want to talk about. Just so long as they leave the rest of us out of it!

Do you remember Billy Connolly going on about the National Anthem he reckoned we should change it to the theme tune of the Archers. DUM DI DUM DA DIDDLY DUM, DUM DI DUM etc. It's catchy we could add words appropriate to the British Isles.

"Me Mums a Jock, Me dads a Taff and Me granny lives in Wisbeach"

Served with the nice chap in HQ and SIGS. Me him and PARKMAN went on a runsahore in Pompey. We were decommisioning from Fearless Dave was Intrepid. I could "YamSing" in under two seconds as could Dave and PARKMAN. We had a belter of a night! Matelots were buying us drinks and betting on who would finish first! The yard of ale was duly "YamSinged" as was the two pint glass boot. All pi**ed as handcarts and all free! O happy days. Not PC I will admit but when have bootnecks ever been?
